Tom Parker Bowles, the son of Queen Consort Camilla, has once again stepped into the public spotlight, this time with an in-depth interview in *People* magazine where he discussed his mother’s dedication to royal duties, her work ethic, and his relationship with his stepfather, King Charles.
While much of the royal family tends to keep quiet on personal matters, Parker Bowles’s candid remarks shed new light on life within the royal fold — and the palace’s apparent silent consent of his statements suggests they may be strategically placing him on stage to improve the public image of the royal couple.
Parker Bowles’s portrayal of his mother contrasts somewhat with earlier claims made by Camilla herself. During the COVID-19 lockdown, she stated that she participated in family video calls.
While it’s possible she referred to using a computer for those calls, Tom’s remarks suggest Camilla prefers a more analog approach to communication.
He further emphasized Camilla’s longstanding commitment to hard work, recalling that he had never seen her drink alcohol and how she’d always maintained a strict focus on her professional duties. “She’s never been idle. She’s always working, and that’s still true today,” said Tom, underscoring his mother’s deep sense of responsibility.
Despite her apparent discomfort, Camilla carried on with her commitments, later attending a Christian-themed performance by local children and receiving gifts in line with her literacy initiatives. Her discomfort during the ceremony, along with her reluctance to engage closely with crowds during an earlier leg of the tour in Australia, raised eyebrows. A video circulating on social media showed her keeping a significant distance from the public, avoiding eye contact and appearing more detached than her husband.
