As the festive season approaches, the British royal family’s Christmas plans remain the subject of much anticipation and speculation.
While the monarchy’s annual Christmas message and the walk to church on Christmas Day are longstanding traditions, this year’s celebrations could look a little different—especially as King Charles’s health continues to be a point of concern.
Additionally, Princess Catherine’s desire to update certain royal traditions could mark a subtle shift in how the family celebrates the holiday season.
“King Charles’s diagnosis has certainly affected the family dynamic, but they’re focused on supporting him through this challenging time,” said a palace insider.
The family is reportedly waiting to see how King Charles’s health progresses before finalizing their holiday arrangements. Plans for 2025 are already being discussed, but the final details will depend on his doctors’ approval.
“Catherine has always felt that Christmas Eve gifts are a little strange,” said a friend of the couple. “When they’re in charge, she plans to update this tradition, making Christmas morning more of a family-focused occasion. She and William want to keep things relaxed and personal, especially after such a challenging year.”
“Christmas is all about family, and this year, William and Catherine want to prioritize that. After everything they’ve been through, they’re looking forward to a quiet, more intimate holiday, surrounded by their closest family members,” the friend said.
