Travis Kelce has been relatively silent on Taylor Swift’s new album The Tortured Poets Society, even though it’s making waves by calling various celebrities out, including her nemesis Kim Kardashian and ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn.
Given how much of Swift’s record focuses on her past romantic relationships, some fans wonder if Travis is bothered.
But a new report says the NFL star is not only okay with it, he’s a huge fan of her new work.
Travis Reportedly Heard The Album Before Everyone Else
“He heard everything before it was released. He is so proud of [her] and understands and accepts that being with her means being a part of her music,” a source said to Us Weekly. “And he’s secure and fine with it.”
Travis isn’t the only person in his family who’s a fan of the album. His mom, Donna Kelce, recently shared that she’s curious to know which songs are about her son, adding Taylor’s 11th studio album is now her favorite.
“I know there’s a few that some people think are about Travis but we’ll just see,” Donna told Us Weekly during an appearance at the QVC Women’s Summit in Las Vegas. “You know, I’ll have to ask her when I see her.”
“It’s her best one!” she replied when questioned on her favourite Swift album. The NFL mom also said she only heard the music on the “day it was released,” even though Travis apparently got a sneak peak.
Why Taylor Swift’s New Album Is Controversial
Interestingly, Taylor’s new album debuted to mixed reviews. While the Swifties love it, there have been some harsh reviews, particularly related to Taylor’s creative process and signs that she may feel limited or be at cross-roads musically.
“There’s no hierarchy of tragic detail; these songs fail to distill an overarching emotional truth, tending to smother rather than sting. It would help if Swift were exploring new musical ideas, but she is largely retreading old territory — unsurprising, perhaps, given that the last three years of her life have been consumed by re-recording her old albums and touring her past selves,” Olivia Horn of Pitchfork critiqued.
The album has also been criticized for its price , considering Taylor released multiple bonus versions, each with their own singles, meaning fans need to spend a pretty penny to own all versions.
But there are other reasons the album has made waves, particularly given who Taylor references. Several songs appear to be about Kim Kardashian, reigniting her long-time feud with Swift and resulting in trolling (as well as a loss of followers) on Instagram.
Taylor’s ex Joe Alwyn also seems to be the focus of the album, with references made to his alleged infidelity and unwillingness to marry the singer despite dating for six years. Reports say Joe has no plans to publicly react to the album, which isn’t surprising, given he’s infamous for being notoriously private.
