Selena Gomez has experience with her Rare music and Rare Beauty line, but what about steaks cooked rare?
Rolling Stone can exclusively share a clip of the premiere episode of Gomez’s Food Network show, out May 2, which sees the singer learning how to cook a steak alongside esteemed chef Wolfgang Puck at his CUT Steakhouse restaurant in Beverly Hills.
“I want one medium and one rare,” Puck instructs a confused Gomez before walking away in the video. “Now, it’s all up to you. Bye!”
The scene captures Gomez placing the different cuts of meat on the grill after forgetting what doneness she was asked to cook each piece. “Babe, I thought he said ‘Rare. Medium,’” Gomez tells her bestie Raquelle Stevens, pointing at the different cuts. “Why did I do this?”
Gomez and Stevens then call Puck over for “clarification” on his simple instructions. “Should I write it down for you?” Puck asks jokingly. “We only have two steaks!”
The first episode also sees Gomez creating a spicy seafood dish alongside Puck. In the second episode, she visits Shirley Chung to Ms Chi, where she makes a fusion dish from her childhood.
The episode with Puck marks the debut of Selena + Restaurant, a fresh new take on her previous cooking show, Selena + Chef. The show will follow Gomez alongside Keith Corbin, Stephanie Izard, Andrew and Michelle Muñoz, and Marcel Vigneron across six episodes.
“After cooking mostly virtually from my kitchen with some of the best chefs for the last four years, I was thrilled to step into their world,” said Gomez in a press release. “You’ll have to see if being in person helped my skills at all.”
Selena + Restaurant was executive-produced by Eli Holzman and Aaron Saidman, and produced by Gomez for July Moon Productions.
