Meri Brown is back to dating after her first relationship post-divorce ended amid claims her boyfriend was using her for fame and wealth.

But the negative experience isn’t going to stop Meri from finding love again, she recently explained, though she’s adjusted what she’s looking for in a potential match.

The Sister Wives star opened up about her dating life during a Q&A on her Instagram When asked if she’s dating, Meri replied, “Not exclusively. I have gone out on a few dates.”

She went on to make a joke, saying her “Prince Charming has not arrived.” But Meri was quick to correct herself, noting that she’s “not really looking for a prince.”

“I’m looking for a king. There’s a bit of an energetic difference there,” she went on. “A prince is still a boy. I want a man who knows who he is.” Meri added that finding someone who’s “confident” is important to her.

“Because I know who I am and I’m confident in who I am and I need somebody who matches my energy,” she continued. “When we cross paths, we’ll know it.”

Fans have followed Meri’s romantic life closely through her family’s polyamorous TLC dating show. She was previously married to Cody Brown from 1990 to 2014, when they divorced so he could legally marry another wife.

However, the pair remained in a spiritual union until they announced their split in January 2023. This came after two of Cody’s other wives chose to leave him, as well.

“After more than a decade of working on our relationship in our own unique ways, we have made the decision to permanently terminate our marriage relationship,” their statement said.

Why Meri’s Last Boyfriend Was Controversial

Meri was open about dating after splitting from Cody, unveiling her first relationship via Instagram a year later. Her boyfriend was a non-celebrity, Amos Andrews.

Though Meri said she was happy in the new relationship, it wasn’t long until Internet sleuths unearthed his questionable history. Not only had Amos been accused of not paying child support and exhibiting controlling behavior, he was also alleged to have an obsession with reality stars, suggesting he was only with Meri due to her Sister Wives fame.

Fans didn’t hold back expressing their concern over Meri’s new boyfriend, even questioning if she could identify a healthy relationship given the toxic dynamic that played out between her and Cody on Sister Wives for years. However, Meri announced in February things were over between her and Amos.

“Last week Amos and I did have a bunch of discussions, and we did decide to stop seeing each other, so there’s that,” she wrote via Instagram, without providing a specific reason for their split.

“I honor and care about the past four months, who I spent it with, and what I learned about myself through it. I know what’s important to me in a relationship, and I’m confident in myself while I’m single as well,” she added.

Now that it’s been a few months since their split, Meri is clearly open to love again, even if fans continue to question if she’s ready for it.
