Zayn Malik is still looking for love following his 2022 break-up with Gigi Hadid, but he’s not likely to find it on Tinder.
The actor recently revealed he was on the dating app for a brief time but was ultimately kicked off after his account was reported for catfishing, as people didn’t believe it was actually him.
Why Zayn Was Kicked Off Of Tinder
“Everyone accused me of catfishing. They’re like, ‘What are you using Zayn Malik’s pictures for?'” Zayn told Nylon during a recent interview. “It’s not been too successful for me, I’ll be honest.”
Zayn and Gigi’s relationship began in 2015, marking the start of a high-profile romance that captured headlines. The couple had an on-again, off-again relationship, but in September 2020, they welcomed their first child, a daughter named Khai.
However, their relationship faced challenges, leading to their split in November 2021. The breakup was reportedly due to conflicting schedules and the pressures of maintaining a public relationship.
However, Zayn had also gotten into a conflict with Gigi’s mother, Yolanda Hadid, to which he later plead no contest to charges brought forth from the incident. The singer hasn’t publicly revealed any new relationships in the aftermath of their break-up, but given his recent Tinder story, he’s clearly tried his hand at the dating game albeit with limited success.
Zayn Is Focusing On A Career Comeback
After announcing he’s releasing a new album this month, Zayn has been doing various promotional work, and has been uncharacteristically candid in recent interviews. Earlier this month, he opened up about his mental health and how anxiety as well as depression affected his time with One Direction, which he eventually departed in 2015.
“It’s not as much of a struggle. It’s been a development over the last years for me. I just got sick of just feeling like there was a cloud over my head,” Zayn told US radio host Zach Sang .
“The main thing that I always feel bad about when I look back over my life is not enjoying the band enough,” he continued. “I feel like I just took things too seriously and I’m grateful that I’m able to be happier now. I had this teen angst thing going on, a chip on my shoulder where I’m like, ‘It’s really cool to just be moody as f*** all the time.’”
After leaving One Direction, Zayn Malik pursued a flourishing solo career, releasing chart-topping singles and albums. Recently, he took a hiatus to prioritize his well-being but has now announced his return to the music scene.
In a social media post earlier this month, Zayn revealed plans for a special live performance in London, marking his first stage appearance in eight years. This announcement comes hot on the heels of his surprise album drop, Room Under the Stairs, set to release on May 17, coinciding with the London show.
The event will be held at the iconic O2 Shepherds Bush Empire, offering an intimate setting for 2,000 attendees. Malik is expected to showcase six songs and premiere his new documentary, Road Back to the Mic, signaling his comeback. Fans are eagerly anticipating his return, celebrating not only his musical resurgence but also his improved mental health.
