Taylor Swift continues to set records with her music career, from the overwhelming success of her ongoing Eras tour to her musical documentary.
But the songstress has tried her hand at acting before, and it appears she may do so again, despite her tight schedule.
Some fans are convinced that Taylor is going to make an appearance in Deadpool 3.
It’s not only her previous interest in acting that makes this likely, but also the fact she’s close friends with the franchise’s star Ryan Reynolds and his wife Blake Lively, even writing songs inspired by their daughters.
Fans Are Convinced Taylor Will Play Dazzler In Deadpool
Taylor Swift is widely rumored to be making an appearance in the upcoming film Deadpool 3, which is officially titled Deadpool & Wolverine. Both Reynolds and Hugh Jackman reprising their roles as the titular antiheroes, navigating from Fox’s X-Men universe to Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Swift has long been a popular choice among fans to play Dazzler, an X-Men member and pop star who can transform music into light and energy. The character was previously seen in 2019’s X-Men: Dark Phoenix, portrayed by Halston Sage.
Swift’s prominence in the music industry, combined with her close friendship with Reynolds and his wife, Blake Lively, has fueled speculation among fans, known as Swifties, that the singer might debut in the Marvel universe in the new film, set to be released on July 26.
Taylor is a known fan of the franchise, which has made reference to the pop star in its first two movies. Swift seemed to reference Deadpool in her All Too Well short film. She also once dressed up in Reynolds’ Deadpool costume for Halloween back in 2016.
Even Taylor’s new song “Clara Bow” appears to be a reference to the character Dazzler, at least some fans think so, considering the word “dazzling” is repeated throughout the lyrics.
Deadpool’s Director Won’t Confirm Or Deny The Rumors
Shawn Levy, who’s directing the third film in the franchise, refused to confirm or deny Taylor’s involvement when questioned earlier this year, only adding fuel to the speculation.
“I can’t even believe that you would dare ask me a question that you know I can’t answer,” he told Entertainment Tonight last month. “[Her casting] is hardly confirmed nor denied in this interview. … I’m going to literally walk [out] of the frame and save myself, otherwise Ryan’s taking a hit [out] on me.”
Taylor has gained a diverse acting portfolio over the years. She made her film debut in Valentine’s Day (2010), where she played a high school student named Felicia. Swift then lent her voice to the character Audrey in the animated film The Lorax (2012). She also appeared as Rosemary in the dystopian drama The Giver (2014). More recently, Swift took on the role of Bombalurina in the film adaptation of the musical Cats (2019).
Additionally, she has made guest appearances on television shows such as CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and New Girl. Her varied roles demonstrate her versatility and talent beyond her music career.
Taylor was even rumored to be launching a T.V. show, proving there’s nothing his triple threat can’t do. But it remains to be seen if she joins the Deadpool franchise.
