Billy Ray Cyrus has made a series of startling accusations against his estranged wife Firerose since filing for an annulment last month.
However, the Australian native is now firing back with her own claims, alleging the country musician was physically aggressive with her during their relationship.
In her divorce response, Firerose says Billy Ray had explosive tendencies, and was physically and emotional abusive towards her.
Firerose Claims Billy Ray Would Have Explosive Fits
“Wife was the victim of extreme verbal, emotional, and psychological abuse,” the court documents reveal, PEOPLE reports. “Wife was subjected to Husband’s persistent drug use accompanied with the consumption of marijuana which made Husband unpredictable and volatile towards Wife.”
Moreover, Firerose claims Billy Ray filed for divorce a day before she was set to have surgery. After discovering she’s a carrier of the BRCA1 gene mutation, which increases the risk of breast cancer, Firerose opted to undergo a preventative double mastectomy and reconstruction surgery, scheduled for May 24. However, Billy Ray filed for divorce on the 23rd, which Firerose says was intentional.
Firerose Claims Billy Ray Won’t Pay For Her Surgery
Firerose claims Billy Ray kicked her out of their residence the same day, giving her no choice but to “indefinitely” delay her surgery.
While Billy Ray has alleged Firerose misspent his money, she now claims she won’t be able to afford her surgery, since she was relying on Billy Ray’s health insurance and his “promises” to pay for the rest.
“The accumulation of years of verbal, emotional, and psychological abuse, combined with the fact that Husband has had a direct hand in restricting Wife’s access to income and future opportunities, Wife has developed severe emotional distress from Husband’s actions,” her court filing further argues. “Wife has had to seek psychological treatment from her therapist for emergency sessions on more than one occasion.”
Billy Ray and Firerose married in October 2023, despite an age gap spanning over two decades. They originally met on the set of Hannah Montana years ago, when Billy Ray was still married to Tish Cyrus, the mother of Miley and Noah Cyrus. Tish remarried only a month before her ex-husband, to Prison Break star Dominic Purcell.
While Tish and Dominic’s marriage remains in tact, it hasn’t been without drama. Following their nuptials, it was alleged Noah had a romance with Dominic before he moved on with her mom, explaining why the singer opted to skip her mom’s wedding, even though Miley and her older siblings were in attendance.
The Cyrus children are allegedly on tenuous terms with both of their parents. Reports say Billy Ray especially wants to patch things up with Miley, and has accused Firerose of isolating him from his children. But it remains to be seen if this family feud can be fixed.
