Jake Gyllenhaal is one of the most famous bachelors in Hollywood.

Even though he’s been romantically connected to some of the most famous ladies in the business, he’s never tied the knot.

Now, a new report may shed light on why Jake hasn’t settled down yet – he’s allegedly got a materialistic side.

Speaking to Life & Style, a source says that Jake is known for being particular about fashion and has a habit of collecting rare, designer pieces, a passion that’s become stronger with age.

“On the doorstep of middle age, the funny thing you notice about Jake is how materialistic he has become about his fashion choices and options, like he’s putting way too much thought and effort into it,” they explained.

“His favorite pastime is looking at himself in the mirror in a cutting-edge new outfit. He has the right to have a hobby but he’s gone way too deep into it!” the source further said.

“His weakness for extreme luxury fashion is a little bit of a joke among the people who have known him since he was in his twenties, when he was happy to roll out of bed in his sweatpants for a lunch meeting. Twenty-five years later and Jake really doesn’t leave his house without checking with his stylist that he’s wearing the latest and the greatest fashions,” they went on.

The source described his behavior as obsessive, admitting it gets in the way of his day-to-day life, not to mention romantic relationships, explaining, “This isn’t about getting his picture taken, either. He’s worn lavish outfits, especially during the pandemic, and never even got seen in them [by publications].”

“Jake’s fashion addiction is purely for himself, not his fans and not his public image. He gets off on wearing the coolest, newest stuff – especially if he gets it for free!” they further revealed. “It’s a little sad, but this is how Jake blows off steam these days.”

Why Gyllenhaal Is Allegedly Afraid To Propose

Gyllenhaal may be an eternal bachelor, but he’s not technically single. He’s been dating actress Jeanne Cadieu for years on the down-low, only making several public appearances together and refusing to publicly acknowledge their romance in interviews. One report last year said Jake was scared to pop the question.

“Every so often he drops hints that make people think he’s about to do it, but he never follows through,” a source claimed to Life & Style . “He can’t quite make the leap.”

“The truth is, he likes things the way they are. His family doesn’t understand why he’s so afraid to take this step. Jeanne is a real catch, she’s smart and beautiful, and there’s only so long she’ll wait for him to get it together,” the insider went on. “The worry is Jeanne will get tired of waiting.”

But given the new report about Jake’s (allegedly) materialistic attitude, perhaps there’s more preventing Jeanne and Jake from getting engaged than his fear of commitment.
