Jim Carrey Managed To Somehow Keep Composure During His Final Interview Since Going Off The Map

His career on-screen will be remembered forever.

However, off-camera, fans love the actor just as much, and his ability to speak the truth. He called Hollywood “spineless” after Will Smith’s Oscar slap.

At the time, no other major celebrity was willing to speak.

Already two years have passed since Jim Carrey’s memorable interview with Access Hollywood. It was supposed to be about Sonic the Hedgehog.

However, the narrative shifted to Jim’s future instead. He made quite the reveal of what was to come, and one that made fans extremely emotional.

Let’s recap how it all unfolded, and other noteworthy moments from Carrey’s career that caught the attention of fans and the media.

Jim Carrey Held Back His Emotions With Access Hollywood After Revealing He’d Done Enough
Two years have already gone by since Jim Carrey’s final interview alongside Access Hollywood, promoting his film at the time, Sonic the Hedgehog 2. The interview takes a twist fans were not expecting. With a calmness in his voice and a smile, Carrey let the fans know, “I’ve done enough.” Jim basically announced his potential retirement, with no timetable for a future return.

Carrey’s iconic words that fans haven’t forgotten, “I really like my quiet life and I really like putting paint on canvas and I really love my spiritual life and I feel like — and this is something you might never hear another celebrity say as long as time exists — I have enough. I’ve done enough. I am enough.”

The iconic actor did leave the door open for a potential return down the road. But in that time, he was set on taking time off.

“Well, I’m retiring. Yeah, probably. I’m being fairly serious,” Carrey said. “It depends. If the angels bring some sort of script that’s written in gold ink that says to me that it’s going to be really important for people to see, I might continue down the road, but I’m taking a break.”

The fan reaction to Carrey’s interview moment was extremely positive. His supporters especially love the fact that he was able to walk away on his own terms.

The most liked YouTube comments read:

“I have enough, done enough, am enough.” Not many of us can say that. Good on you Jim.”
“I have enough, I’ve done enough, I am enough” is such a profound sentiment in our current day and age.”
“When you’ve lived long enough to say the words “I’ve done enough”, you know you made it through life successfully!”

Covering all of Carrey’s work throughout the years is tiring… now imagine the actor himself, who took part in several different genres throughout his career… During Jim Carrey’s interview with The Talks, the actor admitted that certain roles were extremely taxing. Among them was Man on the Moon. Carrey admits it took awhile to shake off the character of Andy Kaufman. Carrey forgot how to be his true self.

“I see someone who thought they were a person, who was trying to create characters but… How can I put it? Playing Andy Kaufman in Man on the Moon in 1999, for example, I realized that I could lose myself in a character. I could live in a character. It was a choice. And when I finished with that, I took a month to remember who I was. “What do I believe? What are my politics? What do I like and dislike?” It took me a while and I was depressed going back into my concerns and my politics.”

He continues, “But there was a shift that had already happened. And the shift was, “Wait a second. If I can put Jim Carrey aside for four months, who is Jim Carrey? Who the hell is that?”

Carrey has found different ways of coping, which include some of his favorite activities outside of Hollywood. Painting in particular has helped Carrey stay grounded. What he loves most is the fact that it gives him yet another different canvas to create on.
