Glen Powell shared embarrassing reality TV show stint on Endurance with Stephen Colbert, who couldn’t stop laughing

We have seen this in the past, Stephen Colbert unable to keep a straight face after an interview reveal.

It took place in 2023 after Sandra Bullock revealed the only autograph she ever asked for (Daniel Radcliffe).

However, it happened again recently, as Glen Powell spilled the details on his failed reality TV show experience.

Now it wasn’t quite Survivor, but hardcore fans of Endurance will tell you it was even better.

Let’s recap Powell’s reveal and how Colbert reacted. Endurance was a big deal during the early 2000s. However, for Powell, it was all a forgettable experience given how short-lived it proved to be.

Stephen Colbert Couldn't Keep A Straight Face Over Glen Powell's Failed Reality TV Stint On A "Cheap" Version Of Survivor

Glen Powell Told Stephen Colbert About His Failed Reality TV Show Stint On, Endurance

Not exactly the story fans were expecting during Glen Powell’s entertaining interview alongside Stephen Colbert. The Twisters actor told a story about his experience with reality TV during his youth. Powell appeared on the reality TV show Endurance for one episode. As expected, he was not successful in his stint. Stephen Colbert was extremely entertained as Powell detailed what went wrong.

“It’s really pretty hard for me to talk about, to be honest,” Powell said, visibly embarrassed. “I’ve never talked about this publicly ever. I was 13, I was on a show called Endurance; it’s basically a kids Survivor-type show. I wanted to be on the show really bad, and I got kicked off in the first episode. When I realized I was going home, it was the worst feeling.”

Glen Powell is currently working on his upcoming film, Huntington.

Colbert could not keep a straight face as Powell detailed his struggles. Making things that much better, Colbert even had the clip on-hand of Powell’s failed experience.

“He likes to tap dance and sing at nursery homes,” Colbert hilariously revealed when reading Powell’s bio on the show.

Fans had a blast with the segment. Though there was one fan that thought Endurance served a greater reaction.

“I’m just shocked how not one member of the audience even cheered. ENDURANCE was one of the greatest if not THE greatest show I’ve ever seen as a kid. I remember watching Glen on the second season and I was sad to see him get eliminated. But luckily his sister carried on the legacy when she competed in the sixth season. And what shocked me years later was that he did Spy Kids 3 the year after doing ENDURANCE so us millennials can thank the show for giving this man an extraordinary career on screen.”

Glen Powell Isn’t Slowing Down, Adding A Degree To His Already Busy Schedule

Glen Powell, London Photocall For 'Twisters'

Fans just learned of Powell’s background in reality TV. It seems like we can add something else to the resume. Speaking with Indie Wire about Twisters, and other topics, the actor revealed that he’s going back to the University of Texas, looking to finish his degree.

The actors explained, “I’m not going to be sitting in a class with other students on the regular. I’m basically going to be coming back because I have to finish up, but I’m going to be shooting “The Running Man” in the fall. So I’m going to be in London, but I am going to be going back for proctored exams. So, they’re letting me figure it out [with] distance learning.”

He concludes, “And I’m obviously going to be coming in, Zooming in for classes and whatnot, but I have to be back for the proctored exams. So, we’re figuring that out for two or three times a semester, I’ll come back for all my stuff. Edgar has been very nice about letting me finish my degree in the middle of his massive movie.”

Despite his success in Hollywood, Glen Powell recently decided to move back to Texas.

Fans On Reddit Believe Endurance Deserves More Credit Than It Typically Gets As A Reality TV Show

Similar to what a fan mentioned on YouTube, a discussion on Reddit believes Endurance deserves more credit than it actually got. Its longevity alone is quite remarkable, starting on Discovery and NBC in 2002, and lasting 11 seasons. Ratings for the show were also very promising. IMDb rated Endurance a 7.9 on 10. Putting things into context, that’s higher than Survivor’s 7.5 IMDb rating.

Glen Powell Once Appeared on a Reality Show as a Teen

J.D. Roth was the host of Enundance, appearing in 97 episodes.

Fans have fond memories looking back at the show:

  • “I watched both when Endurance was airing and wanted to badly to be on Endurance. It just seemed like so much fun and I liked the team aspect and collecting pieces along the way to winning (but I didn’t like the “rock-paper-scissors” elimination idea). Sad it’s not on the air anymore – I really enjoyed watching it.”
  • “I was obsessed with it and always wanted to go it. That got me loving reality tv, which turned into Total Drama Island which evenutally transferred onto Survivor… haha. So it was my “gateway drug” of competitive reality TV.”
  • “When discovery kids or whatever channel was airing them 8 years ago in repeats my friends and I became obsessed with Hawaii. We binged the whole season in a freaking day. Nicole and Monroe were amazing. That whole cast was fantastic but those two stole the show.”

So to sum up, it appears as though Survivor is the cheap version of Endurance
