Ellen is now doing a comedy tour, and while Portia is her biggest fan and supporter, she’s also eager to spend some quiet time with her wife.
On a recent stand-up show, Ellen referenced the unfortunate ending of her talk show and hinted that she would be retiring soon.
According to a source, Portia was very happy to hear this and is looking forward to it.
Portia De Rossi Reportedly Happy Ellen DeGeneres Wants To Retire

While Portia de Rossi is very supportive of her wife’s comedy career, she’s glad Ellen DeGeneres is considering retirement, as she wants to spend time with her at home. The two of them have been married for 16 years, and Portia is looking forward to having some downtime after years of being busy.
A source recently spoke to PEOPLE about Portia’s feelings after Ellen publicly spoke of retirement, and apparently, she couldn’t be happier.
“They live in Montecito full-time and love it,” the source shared. “Ellen’s on the road right now for a stand-up special. She canceled a few dates in July… She’s excited though. She plans on it being her final comedy tour. She talks about retiring.”
Although Portia is “always super supportive” of her wife and knows that the tour is “very important,” the source said that she “loves” spending time together in their home.
“They have created a special life in Montecito,” the insider added. “It’s truly a magical place. Portia even has a whole equestrian facility on their property. One can say without any exaggeration that Portia is obsessed with her horses. It’s her life passion.”
Ellen DeGeneres Hinted At Retirement During Her Tour

During one of her shows on her current stand-up comedy tour, Ellen DeGeneres hinted at retirement while she complained about being “canceled.” It’s no secret things with her talk show didn’t end well, as she got accused of creating a toxic work environment, and she lashed out about it on stage.
“Let me catch you up on what’s been going on with me since you last saw me,” she said on a show. “I got chickens. Oh yeah, and I got kicked out of show business for being mean.”
She also said that she was upset about the accusations against her, despite trying to pretend she wasn’t.
“I used to say, ‘I don’t care what people say about me.’ Now I realize I said that during the height of my popularity,” she explained. “Next time, I’ll be kicked out for being old. Old, gay and mean, the triple crown,” Ellen joked, referring to when she got blacklisted from showbusiness decades ago for coming out on screen.

In addition to joking about it, she also took the opportunity to defend herself against the allegations.
“I can be demanding and impatient and tough. I am a strong woman. I am many things, but I am not mean,” she complained.
Lastly, she surprised the crowd by saying she would not be touring again.
“This is the last time you’re going to see me. After my Netflix special, I’m done.”
Whether this means that she’s leaving the entertainment industry altogether or just comedy remains to be seen. Either way, Portia will be welcoming her at home with open arms.
