Nick Cannon’s romantic life might resemble a reality TV show, but his latest confession has just taken the drama up a notch.
The multitalented star recently spilled the beans on his undying love for ex-wife Mariah Carey, but spoiler alert: she’s not exactly jumping at the chance for a reunion.
Nick Believes He’s Meant To Be With Mariah
Despite their divorce being finalized eight years ago, Nick hasn’t let go of his dream of rekindling his romance with Mariah. The couple, who share 13-year-old twins Moroccan “Roc” Cannon and Monroe “Roe” Cannon, were once one of Hollywood’s most glamorous pairs.
Their split was amicable, but Cannon’s recent revelations suggest that his feelings might still be simmering beneath the surface.
In a chat with E! News, Cannon, alongside his cohost Courtney Bee from We Playin’ Spades, joked about the possibility of reuniting with Carey. “We belong together,” Cannon declared with a wink. “Yes, absolutely. Be stupid if I wouldn’t.”
But Nick Admits Mariah Doesn’t Want Him
However, Carey isn’t exactly swooning at the prospect of a rekindled romance. When Cannon was asked about what might be holding them back—especially given that Mariah recently ended her relationship with boyfriend Brian Tanaka in December—Cannon didn’t hold back.
“She don’t want me,” he quipped.
Courtney Bee chimed in with a sassy remark, “Yeah, you done left and had like 10 kids.” To which Cannon, who indeed has a full roster of ten children with various partners, responded with a laugh, “A whole baseball team,” adding, “Like, ‘No, you can’t come back home.’”
Nick’s large family might be a joke to some, but the dyanmic among the mothers of his children is no laughing matter. Alongside Carey, Cannon’s exes include Brittany Bell, Abby De La Rosa, Bre Tiesi, LaNisha Cole, and Alyssa Scott. Nick proudly shared that they all get along “amazing.” But he’s quick to note that he never expected otherwise.
“But that’s the thing, I don’t expect them to,” he explained. “I think that’s the thing that people might always think that it would be that. But it’s like everybody lives their own life, before me and after me.”
As Nick and Mariah’s twins approach their teenage years, Cannon’s nostalgia for their co-parenting days is palpable. “We gonna be done soon,” he reflected. “We got teenagers now. I’m about to shed a tear. It’s happening too fast.”
The former couple tied the knot in 2008, and their relationship was as dazzling as it was high-profile. Their marriage, celebrated in a lavish ceremony, was often the talk of the town. Unfortunately, the couple’s fairytale didn’t last forever, and they announced their separation in 2014, finalizing their divorce two years later.
The reasons behind their split were kept largely private, but it’s clear that their lives have taken different paths since then. Mariah has moved on with her life and career, recently breaking up with Bryan Tanaka and focusing on her music and personal endeavors. Meanwhile, Nick continues to juggle his multiple roles as a father, entertainer, and now, a joke-loving family man.
