Princess Anne has offered a rare glimpse into her relationship with Queen Camila and provided her thoughts on King Charles’s reign in the new documentary Charles III: The Coronation.
The 73-year-old royal is one of several commentators featured in the hour-and-a-half film, which provides an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the preparations for King Charles’s coronation.
In a candid moment, Princess Anne spoke about her sister-in-law, Queen Camila, sharing her admiration for how she has adapted to her new role.
“I’ve known her for quite a while,” Anne revealed.
“How she interprets her role and the difference it makes to the King has been extraordinary. This isn’t a role that would have come naturally to her, but she does it very well. She also brings a needed change in pace and tone.”
The documentary, which aired on BBC One on December 26th, offers viewers a lighter, more personal side of King Charles. In one memorable scene, the monarch jokes about his so-called “sausage fingers” as his son, Prince William, assists him with his coronation robes.
Speaking on King Charles’s transition to the throne, Princess Anne reflected on the challenges he faced. “To be honest, I’m not sure if anyone can truly prepare for that kind of change. It’s not easy,” she admitted. “And then the change happens, and you go, ‘Okay, now I need to get on with it.’”
