Prince William, the Prince of Wales, recently opened up about a delightful family pastime he enjoys with his children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—while reflecting on his visit to Cape Town.
The father of three, who is currently on a four-day tour of South Africa, shared a heartwarming moment during his final day in Cape Town, expressing his wish that his children could have joined him on the trip.
While touring the Simon’s Town Harbor, home to South Africa’s largest naval facility, Prince William discussed his shared interests with his children, particularly how he’s been teaching them about important water safety topics like rip tides.
The royal visit took him to the National Sea Rescue Institute, where he met with volunteers and learned about their life-saving efforts.
Prince William, who is known for his hands-on involvement with his children, revealed that he had been sharing his knowledge of the sea with George, Charlotte, and Louis, and hoped they could have been part of his trip.
“I’m teaching George, Charlotte, and Louis about rip tides,” William explained during his visit. “Rip tides are tricky because you can’t predict where they’ll appear, and it’s important they understand the dangers.” The Prince of Wales added that he wished his family had been able to accompany him on the excursion, highlighting his deep bond with his children and his desire to include them in his adventures.
At the institute’s operations center, Prince William showed his enthusiasm for new technology and tools used to monitor sea conditions. He remarked with a laugh, “I might need to download the app they use to track conditions at home,” a lighthearted comment that showcased his personal engagement with the subject. His visit not only supported the work of these volunteers but also highlighted the importance of educating younger generations on environmental issues.
The memory of the concert, which William attended with his two eldest children as part of his birthday celebrations in June, appears to have a special place in his heart. The bracelet serves as a meaningful connection to his children while he is away on royal duties, and it’s clear that family remains central to his life, even during official engagements abroad.
