A recent incident involving Prince William has captured the attention of royal fans, showcasing a side of the future king that many are not accustomed to seeing.
During a visit to Northern Ireland on Thursday, the Prince of Wales was spotted near a motorbike—though this time, he resisted the urge to get back on one.
The sight of the future monarch and avid motorbike enthusiast back in the saddle, even if only briefly and on a stationary bike, delighted fans worldwide.
However, it also raised some concerns, particularly with his wife, Catherine, Princess of Wales, who has been grappling with her own health challenges.
Prince William’s love for motorbikes is no secret. In his younger years, he was known for enjoying thrilling rides, even being spotted zooming around the grounds of Windsor Castle. But for Catherine, this passion has always been a source of anxiety. In fact, she once admitted that the sight of her husband riding a motorbike fills her with “horror.” Her concerns were further amplified after her own battle with cancer earlier this year, which left her physically and emotionally drained.
The family’s challenges over the past year have no doubt weighed heavily on Catherine. With three young children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—she is already under immense stress. The thought of her husband getting hurt only adds to the burden. Though William insists that his scooter riding is about fun and not about taking unnecessary risks, Catherine’s concerns continue to mount.
In 2018, William spoke about his love for biking, recalling that it used to be a way for him to bond with others. “Biking was always about being with everybody else,” he said, before adding, “I’m a dad of three now, so I have to tone it down.”
