Princess Catherine and Prince William’s annual holiday greeting has become a much-anticipated event, and this year, predictions are swirling about the family’s upcoming festive portrait.
The Wales family has long been known for their down-to-earth, intimate holiday photos, and royal expert Ingrid Seward has given us a sneak peek into what this year’s card might entail.
“I imagine there’ll be a cuddly picture of her with her arms around her children,” Seward shared.
“Expect a close-contact picture, likely portraying Catherine in a loving, close embrace with her children, as she enters the holiday season with a renewed sense of optimism.
” Seward believes the royal couple will subtly signal a shift in focus, moving past Princess Catherine’s recent health battles and sending a message of resilience and positivity to the world.
As the family continues to heal and embrace the spirit of the season, we can expect their Christmas card to capture this fresh outlook. Traditionally, the Wales family’s Christmas cards feature a family photo with their three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. Past images have displayed a warm, informal atmosphere, with no shortage of smiles and cherished moments.
In 2017, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took a break from studio portraits, opting instead for a more casual and intimate setting. Seated on haystacks in front of a woodpile, the family exuded warmth and happiness. The cozy surroundings highlighted their bond as a family, reflecting the simple joys of togetherness. The 2020 card, which stole hearts worldwide, featured a youthful Prince Louis grinning from ear to ear, while his siblings George and Charlotte exuded their own charm with adorable expressions.
The 2021 card was similarly sweet, with the family embracing each other in a serene Jordanian desert landscape. Dressed in neutral tones and casual attire, the Wales family looked effortlessly at ease, sitting on artisanal embroidered furniture surrounded by the warmth of the land. This photo, taken during a family vacation in Jordan, reflected the family’s connection to the region, an important place for them. It also marked a departure from previous cards taken at their home, Anmer Hall.
In terms of timing, the Wales family has kept their Christmas card release date fluid over the years. While there’s no set schedule, the card has typically dropped during the first or second week of December, sometimes even as late as the third week. This year, it’s expected to be unveiled sometime soon, much to the delight of royal fans eager to see what this year’s family portrait will look like.
