Federal agents were spotted outside of his residence over the weekend.
Ben Affleck was spotted having what appeared to be a heated conversation with law enforcement outside of his Los Angeles-area home on Tuesday, Jan. 14, just two days after FBI agents were seen on the property.
A new video obtained by TMZ shows the Argo star pulling through the gate and coming to a stop where a Los Angeles Police Department vehicle is parked, seemingly at the edge of his driveway.
It’s difficult to hear what Affleck and the officers say to each other,
but the actor pointed emphatically several times and even pulled himself through the window of his BMW at one point, perhaps to be heard better as other cars rev nearby.
They engage with one another for about two minutes before Affleck can be heard saying, “All right, thanks,” as he retreats fully back into his car.
According to the outlet, Affleck seemed to be irritated about private security in his neighborhood. Apparently some residents have been prevented from returning to their homes near the Palisades Fire. There have also been reports of looting in evacuated areas—while their neighborhood is not currently in an evacuation zone, Affleck was briefly evacuated last week.
TMZ reported that Affleck appeared to be upset over the “private security giving him the third degree as he enters and exits his home.”
It’s unclear why the officers were stationed outside of his residence, though we know that on Sunday, when law enforcement was photographed outside of his house, the bureau and the LA Sheriff’s Department were “conducting activity in the area of the Palisades fire relative to unauthorized drone activity,” so the ongoing police presence may be related.
