Rachel Lindsay recently provided her fans with insight into why her relationship with Bryan Abasolo didn’t work out,
suggesting his reluctance to agree to a prenup caused tension even before they walked down the aisle.
“The reason I didn’t [get a prenup] is because the place I’m in now financially … is totally different than when I got married,” she said during an appearance on the “Hidden Gems With Natasha Parker” podcast.
“We were more level and I wasn’t living in California.”
Bryan Refused Rachel’s Request For A Prenup

The couple got married in 2019, which Lindsay says was a “different time” in her life. The reality star was still working as a lawyer, and didn’t have the same opportunities, professionally and financially, that she does now, leading her to forgo her desire for financial protection.
“We weren’t on the same page with prenups and I didn’t want it to be a bigger issue,” Rachel explained. “So we didn’t have one. Hindsight is 20/20, I would have done it [now].”
A prenuptial agreement offers significant benefits. It helps protect their individual assets and future earnings, providing financial clarity and security. A prenup can also outline the division of property and financial responsibilities, potentially avoiding contentious disputes in case of a divorce.
For celebrities, it safeguards their growing wealth and ensures that their hard-earned success is protected, allowing them to focus on their careers without financial uncertainties.
Simply put, it can make the divorce process simpler, which based on Rachel’s comments, she seems to believe would’ve been in the case in her and Bryan’s break-up, if they did a prenup to begin with.
“Everybody should have a prenup,” Rachel added during the podcast appearance. “I could have never predicted that in 2024 that I would be getting a divorce. You just never know what life is gonna throw at you or what’s going to happen.”
Why Rachel And Bryan Divorced
Rachel Lindsay and Bryan Abasolo’s relationship began in 2017 on the 13th season of ABC’s The Bachelorette. Rachel was the first African American Bachelorette, and her season concluded with Bryan, a chiropractor, proposing to her in the finale.
The couple’s instant chemistry and strong connection were evident throughout the season, leading to their engagement in August 2017. By August 2019, they were married in a lavish ceremony in Cancun, Mexico.
The couple enjoyed several years of marital bliss, often sharing their journey with fans through social media and public appearances. However, in early 2024, rumors began circulating about trouble in their marriage. Within a few months Rachel and Bryan announced their separation.
While they cited irreconcilable differences as the official reason, fans speculated about various causes, including the pressures of maintaining a public relationship, their busy careers, and long-distance challenges.
Now, as Rachel becomes more comfortable discussing their split, it appears fans will get more insight into what happened, including their apparent disagreement over the prenup.
