Anne Hathaway has recalled a memorable audition process where she had to make out with numerous actors during a chemistry read.

The Academy Award-winning actress recently opened up about her audition experience in the early 2000s and how things have changed over the years.

Anne, 41, revealed she once had to kiss 10 guys after being cast in an undisclosed film.

“I was told, ‘We have 10 guys coming today and you’re cast. Aren’t you excited to make out with all of them?’ And I thought, ‘Is there something wrong with me?’ because I wasn’t excited,” she explained in an interview with V Magazine.

“I thought it sounded gross,” Anne said, adding that she went along with the process and fabricated her excitement.

“It wasn’t a power play, no one was trying to be awful or hurt me,” The Devil Wears Prada actress confirmed.

“It was just a very different time and now we know better.”

Anne also said kissing multiple people for a chemistry read was “considered normal” at the time.

AN UPDATED PROCESS

The actress’ new interview comes ahead of her new film’s premiere, The Idea of You, which she both produces and stars in.

Anne opened up about how the audition process for the film was much different than the one she recalled from roughly two decades ago.

“We asked each of the actors coming in to choose a song that they felt their character would love, that they would put on to get my character to dance, and then we’d do a short little improv,” she revealed.

“I was sitting in a chair like we had come in from dinner or a walk or something, we pressed play, and we just started dancing together.”

She recalled her onscreen love interest, actor Nicholas Galitzine, putting on a song by The Alabama Shakes.

“It was just easy. I heard [lead singer] Brittany’s voice and I just started smiling,” Anne said.

“And he saw me smile, so he relaxed, and we just started dancing. Nobody was showing off.

“Nobody was trying to get the gig. We were just in a space dancing. I looked over and Michael Showalter, our director, was beaming. Spark!”

Nicholas plays a famous 24-year-old singer who catches the attention of a 40-year-old single mother, played by Anne.

The romantic comedy, based on Robinne Lee’s novel of the same name, shows Anne’s character getting a second shot at love.

YOUNGER THAN EVER

Last month, fans raved over Anne’s looks after getting a glimpse of her character in the film’s new trailer.

The Princess Diaries star showed off her ageless complexion and figure in the clip, leaving people to be in awe of her age-defying appearance.

“Not Anne Hathaway looking 20 and saying she‘s too old for him,” one fan commented on Instagram.

In one scene, Anne’s character claimed, “I’m too old for you,” when Nicholas’ character went to kiss her.

“‘I’m too old for you,’ Miss Anne Hathaway you look like you’re in your 20s,” another similarly wrote.

“I swear Anna doesn’t age,” a third said.

The actress garnered similar attention just weeks before as she attended the Versace Womenswear Fall/Winter 2024-2025 runway show.

Fans commented on her wrinkle-free appearance as she rocked a red latex dress for the Milan Fashion Week show.
