In her usual manner, Avril Lavigne recently shared her experiences with one of the ugliest parts of a relationship: infidelity.
The singer had no problem admitting that she had been unlucky in the romance department and said that she got cheated on many times in a lot of relationships.
While she acknowledged that, for a long time, she had difficulties recognizing when a relationship wasn’t working or was unhealthy, it sounds like she has really worked on herself.
Avril Lavigne shared what the most important things in a relationship were for her, but made it clear that she’s happy on her own anyway.
Avril Lavigne Says She Got Cheated On ‘A Ton’
Avril Lavigne is very outspoken and has no problem saying what she thinks, even if it’s something some people might find embarrassing, so naturally, she had no problem speaking honestly about her failed relationships.
In an episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, she was asked about infidelity and whether she ever got cheated on. Her response was hilarious and blunt.
“Have I been with a male before? Then the answer is yes!” she joked. “That’s just if anyone’s ever f**ked me over, which has happened a f**k ton. I’ve always just been the classy b**ch who’s taken the high road and kept it to myself,” the singer shared.
Avril Lavigne admitted she doesn’t have the best track record in relationships, and she often has trouble getting out of unhealthy situations.
“It requires a lot, and some people can’t see that clearly. It’s always easier once you’re on the other end,” she explained. “Sometimes you just have to take that leap of faith and trust that if you’re not happy, it’s not a healthy relationship or a good situation, just get out. It’s okay to have time on your own in between if you need it. Just believe and hope that something greater is out there for you.”
Avril Lavigne’s Ambiguous Response About Her Relationship Status
“Now I know even if you were, you’re never gonna f**king tell me. Maybe? OK,” she sighed.
The singer changed the subject after that, raving about what an incredible person she is and saying that if she could, she’d date herself, which might mean she’s not actually seeing anyone right now. “I cook. I’m a really big cook, really big into, like, the house and decorating, and I have a lot of fun with that,” she gushed.
Although she didn’t say anything more about her relationship status, she did share what’s the most important thing for her in a partner.
“The most important thing is finding someone that you’re compatible with,” Avril Lavigne said. “It all just sounds cliché. Someone that is trustworthy, because if you don’t have that, you’re just never going to feel grounded in the relationship, and you’re going to be spinning. So that’s just not healthy… a healthy relationship is ideal. I need someone who’s solid, that I can lean on.”
While she had some bad experiences in the past, and admittedly made some bad choices, it seems Avril Lavigne has her p
riorities straightened out now, and when the right relationship comes along, she’ll be ready.
