Ben Affleck is aware of the way he looks in many paparazzi shots, and he’s finally addressing the speculation about why he often looks miserable, insisting it isn’t what fans seem.

“I’m also a little bit shy,” Ben said during a conversation with Kevin Hart on the season premiere of Peacock’s Hart to Heart. “I also don’t like a lot of attention.

That’s why people see me and they’re like, ‘Why’s this dude always mad?’ Because somebody has their camera and sticks it in my face and I’m like, ‘Okay, here we go.’”

He continued to explain how intrusive it feels to have paparazzi snapping photos of him during low-key moments with his kids, whereas public events and red carpet premiere he understands.

“Also, because I’m with my kids and they’re taking my picture. Actually, what I’d like to do is much more definitive than just look at you like this,” the director continued. “I don’t mind, you can take my picture at a club or a premiere, with my wife, I don’t give a f–k. Knock yourself out. I don’t notice you. But with my children that’s a different thing.”

This isn’t the first time Affleck has insisted he isn’t actually upset despite photos showing otherwise. He previously addressed a viral moment from the 2023 Grammys where the cameras seemed to catch him during a tense moment with his wife, Jennifer Lopez.

Many fans claimed Ben looked miserable throughout he event, but Ben says it was merely a trick of the cameras and he actually enjoyed the musical event.

“I had a good time at the Grammys. My wife was going, and I thought, ‘Well, there’ll be good music. It might be fun,” he explained to The Hollywood Reporter . “At movie award shows, it’s speeches and, like, sound-mixing webinars. But I thought this would be fun.”

Ben May Be Struggling In His Personal Life

Ben didn’t provide any insight into his marriage, despite intense speculation the last few months that Affleck and Lopez are gearing up to announce a divorce. But his insistence that he’s not actually as miserable as he seems in pictures almost appears like a subtle dismissal of the relationship woe speculation.

Still, various reports suggest J.Lo and Ben are preparing to sell their $60 mega mansion, which they only bought last year. Jen has made several high profile appearances on the red carpet solo, including the Met Gala, despite the couple making joint appearances at various family functions together.

One theory put forth by Perez Hilton claims the couple aren’t divorcing, but Ben is dealing with an alcohol relapse and is seeking treatment, which could explain why he and Jen are silent on the speculation.
