Fans aren’t the only ones surprised about Selena Gomez’s new relationship with Benny Blanco.
The music producer himself has admitted he didn’t expect to have a shot with the pop star.
Recently, Benny said he didn’t even know their first date was actually a date.
Benny Didn’t Think He Had A Chance With Selena
“It was so crazy. When we went out on our first date, I didn’t even know it was a date,” he recently confessed to Howard Stern. “I remember sitting there and she’s like, “Well, I would have worn something different for this date,’” the musician continued. “What?! We’re on a date?!’”
When Stern said he sees marriage and kids in Benny’s near future, he agreed. “You and me both… I gotta get my act together!” Benny said, adding about kids, “That’s like my next goal on the box. I have a lot of God kids, I’ve got a ton of nephews. It’s my thing, I love being around kids!”
Benny And Selena Are Planning For Kids
Selena and Benny may waste no time, not only because of his comments. Reports have said the pair have discussed the future and are seriously planning for it together.
“He makes Selena laugh,” a source told Us Weekly. “He makes her feel secure and happy. They both think they’ve found the person they’ll be with forever.”
“She definitely sees this relationship going the distance. They’ve talked about marriage and having children and are very much on the same page another source added, noting Selena’s loved ones are supportive of their romance, even if it appears to be moving quickly.
“Selena has found the love of her life,” they added. “She’s ready to settle down.”
Selena has built a reputation for coming and going from the spotlight, often prioritizing her well-being by taking breaks from the public eye to tend to her mental and physical health. Given her history, it wouldn’t be surprising for the celebrity to step back from the limelight, especially amidst significant life changes and potential aspirations for starting a family.
However, Selena’s current focus appears to be on her acting career, as she recently disclosed her decision to temporarily set aside her music endeavors. Speaking to Rolling Stone in March, she emphasized her passion for film and television, expressing a desire to delve deeper into those realms.
While the Only Murders in the Building star clarified that she isn’t bidding farewell to music indefinitely – she still plans to release one more album in the near future – she articulated a temporary shift in her priorities.
Selena emphasized, “It’s not that it’s ‘no, never’ [to music], it’s more that I would like to explore that world a bit more and have the time to actually do that.”
Maybe having more free time will also give her the opportunity to focus on building her family with Benny. At least he seems on board!
