Ever since the first accusations against him came out, Diddy Combs has continuously denied any wrongdoing.
At least, until footage came out, proving he had physically attacked singer Cassie Ventura, his ex, back in 2016.
In light of this, the rapper posted a video where he accepted responsibility and apologized for his actions.
Unfortunately for him, it doesn’t sound as if many people bought it. A lot of commenters stated that they didn’t believe he was sincere, especially because he didn’t even mention Cassie’s name in the video. Celebrities have also reacted to the apology, and many found it dishonest and had things to say about it.
Celebrities Don’t Believe Diddy Combs’ Apology
After Diddy Combs’ response to the video where he was seen assaulting Cassie, celebrities had a lot to say. While certain fans believed he was truly sorry, the reception of his apology video was mostly not positive, as a lot of people believed he was dishonest in his apologies.
50 Cent reposted the video on his Instagram, calling it a bad strategy. “This is not going to work,” he stated, “who is advising him right now? SMH bad move.” This isn’t the first time 50 Cent has doubted Diddy’s honesty. When the controversial rapper denied the very serious allegations against him, 50 Cent wrote “The lie detector test has determined this was a lie.”
Former Danity Kane singer Aubrey O’Day, who worked with Diddy Combs in the past and has been very critical of him ever since the legal trouble started, was much harsher in his response to the rapper’s apology.
“Diddy did not apologize to Cassie. He apologized to the world for seeing what he did,” she wrote on her X account. “He says he’s ‘disgusted w himself now, and he was disgusted w himself then’.. but apparently he wasn’t disgusted enough w himself to not PIN this statement out calling her a liar & denying all of it,” she added, referring to the rapper denying the accusations. She concluded by saying “leave god and mercy out of this, they aren’t present here, and you know it.”
Diddy Combs’ Apology Video
Diddy Combs posted his apology on his Instagram story after the disturbing footage of him beating his ex Cassie Ventura was made public, despite his continuous statements that he had done nothing wrong.
“It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you got to do that. I was f**ked up. I mean, I hit rock bottom, but I make no excuses,” he said on the video. “My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I’m disgusted,” the rapper went on, saying that he was “disgusted” with his behavior the moment he did it, and he is “disgusted now” seeing the video.
Diddy added that he “sought out professional help, started going to therapy and rehab, had to ask god for his mercy and grace,” and that he’s “committed to being a better man each and every day.” The video ended with him saying he was “not asking for forgiveness” but that he was “truly sorry.”
While Cassie Ventura hasn’t replied to the apology, her legal team has, and they are not happy with it. One of her lawyers spoke to Page Six, clarifying their stance on the latest development. “That he was only compelled to ‘apologize’ once his repeated denials were proven false shows his pathetic desperation, and no one will be swayed by his disingenuous words.”
