Colin Jost and Scarlett Johannsson have been one of Hollywood’s most solid couples for years, but the Saturday Night Live star recently made a joke about needing his wife’s money given his latest investment – a ferry.
During the Saturday episode of SNL, Colin reflected on how nice it’ll be to have his wife close to home this summer, since she’s not starring in a new Marvel movie.
But while this means Scarlett will have more time with their family, Colin jokingly says he hopes the hiatus from filming doesn’t last, since he says they need the money to afford payments on the ferry he bought with Pete Davidson.
“This year marks the first time since 2009 that a Marvel movie has not kicked off the summer movie season,” Jost said during his ‘Weekend Update’ segment. “[It] better be a one-time thing because a lot of people rely on Marvel movies to pay for the ferries they bought.”
Colin Jost And Pete Davidson Bought A Ferry
In January, it was revealed that Colin and Pete alongside Dave Italia made a significant acquisition—a decommissioned ferry that holds historical value.
The SNLco-stars secured the boat titled the John F. Kennedy for $280,000 with plans to transform the vessel into an innovative event venue. Their project reportedly aims to offer a multifaceted experience, combining live entertainment with elements of comedy, art, and culinary delights.
While the ferry is technically in good condition, internal renovations are required before it can be fully operational. Additionally, the trio are apparently searching for a suitable waterfront location to serve as its permanent docking site, or they at least were at the start of the year after winning the auction.
“This double ended, passenger and vehicle ferry up for auction is in poor condition and had to be decommissioned due to mechanical issues, the mechanical issues are on the propulsion end,” the boat’s auction description said. “On this vessel are numerous spare parts which are obsolete and not needed by our agency.”
Scarlett’s Net Worth Is Much Higher Than Colin’s
Colin’s admission may have only been a joke, but it’s well known that his wife’s net worth is higher, largely thanks to her role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
With a reported net worth of around $165 million, Scarlett reigns as one of Hollywood’s highest-paid actresses, thanks in part to her iconic role as Marvel’s Black Widow.
Over the years, Johansson has starred in blockbuster hits like The Avengers series, contributing significantly to her financial success.
On the other hand, Colin Jost, with an estimated net worth of approximately $10 million, has built his fortune primarily through his work on Saturday Night Live as a writer and co-anchor of Weekend Update.
The couple, who tied the knot in October 2020 after dating for several years, welcomed their first child together, a son named Cosmo, in August 2021.
