Over half a year has gone by since the news of Matthew Perry’s death broke, and fans all over the world are still mourning.
Courteney Cox is, of course, no exception. The actress, like everyone else on the cast of Friends, loved Matthew deeply, and still miss him terribly.
In a recent interview, Courteney Cox opened up about what the show, and Matthew Perry in particular, meant to him, and surprised fans with an unusual confession. Apparently, she still talks to the late actor and claims that he “visits” her a lot.
Courteney Cox Says Matthew Perry Is ‘Still Around’ And ‘Visits’ Her
Courteney Cox was very emotional while talking about working on Friends in her recent CBS Sunday Morning interview. The actress opened up about what the show and her co-stars meant to her, especially her on-screen husband, Matthew Perry.
The actor, who passed away in October last year, portrayed the iconic Chandler Bing, a character that will forever be remembered for his sweetness and being genuinely and effortlessly hilarious.
“I think he’s probably one of the funniest human beings in the world. You know, he’s just so funny. He is genuinely a huge heart, obviously struggled. I’m so thankful I got to work so closely with him for so many years,” she said about him.
The interview then took a strange turn, as the actress claimed that Matthew Perry still “visits” her a lot. The interviewer took a special interest in this.
“I know you’re a spiritual person, which makes that statement very interesting. So, you still feel his presence?” the interviewer asked.
“Oh yeah,” Courteney Cox confirmed. “You know, I talk to my mom, my dad, Matthew – I feel like there are a lotta people that are, I think, that guide us. I do sense, yeah, I sense Matthew’s around for sure.”
Courteney Cox Called Her ‘Friends’ Co-stars ‘Family’
Courteney Cox was really open and honest about her experience working on Friends and how close she got to the rest of the cast, who she still considers to be her family. She also shared that the show saved her financially, as she was practically broke when she got the role of Monica Geller.
“That show, thank God for that show That was at that tail end of when I’m really running out of money,” she laughed. “I got an audition, I went in and I read the pilot and I said, ‘This is great.’ But you didn’t know how special it was. But then when you put this cast together and our incredible writers, it was lightning in a bottle.”
But while it was obviously great for her career and made her a very rich actress, what was most important for her was the people she met on set.
“I’m just grateful that I had that opportunity to work with such wonderful people, and to live the life that I have now,” Courteney shared. “That was my family. I mean, we went through everything. Those ten years were everything – they’re my family.”
