Craig David has had an interesting relationship history, and he has previously admitted to being with a lot of women. But that is really in the past.
In a recent chat with The TMZ Podcast, he spoke about how he has embraced celibacy for over two years, and it has revolutionized his approach to his music.
In the chat, the Insomnia musician claimed that he is focusing his attention on spirituality.
“The celibacy question is that it’s just a time frame that I’ve been in that just means that it’s just grounded me and aligned me in a way to make music that can still hit the pocket,” he said.
He also said he used to talk about “making love” and that he had been trying to “articulate in an elegant way as opposed to it being vulgar.”
Craig David Discusses His Music
On the podcast, Craig David said he is “not here to judge anyone” and admitted to doing things he is not “proud of” in the past. He also spoke about how he was in a “healthy place” for him to make music. The 7 Days musician also revealed that he was going to start his 7 Days Commitment Tour and would be playing in Las Vegas as part of the Lovers & Friends festival on May 4, 2024.
This event, as noted by TMZ, would be his first “live band tour in North America in almost 20 years.” It’s a big deal, and the festival has an impressive lineup of celebrities, including Gwen Stefani, Alicia Keys, Usher, Janet Jackson, and Lil Wayne. However, those excited about hearing David returning to the stage will have to wait because the festival was reportedly canceled. Despite the cancelation, fans of the musician will likely still be able to watch him on tour, which will start on May 6, 2024, at The Masonic in San Francisco. He will make several stops across North America and there are VIP packages for those who want to “take their concert experience to the next level,” LiveNation reports.
Craig David Talks Celibacy And Its Impact
Craig David has been open about how his lack of action has impacted his life. In an earlier interview on The Louis Theroux Podcast (via The Independent), he admitted that he had chosen celibacy and addressed his past flings, of which there were many. He also acknowledged how he had been afraid to get close to anyone during his 20s and 30s after feeling “pain” from his first heartbreak. “Unless you are both on a level, you are going to spill over, which can go into many different traumas. It can be like that rejection years ago for me, which has now become my defense mechanism,” he said in June 2023.
In the same chat, Craig David spoke about taking a step back before his next relationship and needing to be in a “healthy space.” At the time, he admitted to being celibate for a year (it has now doubled). “Which does mean not outwardly going on dates; the sexual interactions are going to have to stop now,” he said.
