Crystal Hefner has admitted her husband, Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, wasn’t the best guy in the world.

But she’s prepared to defend his reputation, or at least hers, from ex Holly Madison, serving the former Playboy Bunny with cease and desist papers to keep her from talking about their family.

According to TMZ, the letter addresses remarks made by Madison on her podcast, “Girls Next Level,” during an episode where she featured Hugh’s son Marston as a guest.

Crystal’s lawyers characterize Holly’s words as “malicious and intentionally misleading comments” about her.

One of the main issues highlighted by Hefner’s lawyer involves insinuations that the widow kept the late Playboy founder “doped up” during his final years to exploit him financially.

“Nothing could be further from the truth. As we understand it, Ms. Hefner was steadfast in her commitment to Mr. Hefner through his final days, ensuring that he was cared for and received the best medical attention available,” states the cease-and-desist letter.

The lawyer warns that legal action will be pursued if Madison continues to make similar comments. “Ms. Hefner will not have her name and reputation tarnished by opportunists. We stand by the contents of the letter and will enforce Ms. Hefner’s rights to the fullest,” the attorney told TMZ .

Holly acknowledged receiving the papers through cryptic social media posts this week. In one, she didn’t explicitly confirm that the letter was from Hefner’s lawyer, her posts implied it. “Imagine running a free speech foundation and then sending someone a cease and desist for talking,” she wrote on X alongside a series of laughing emojis.

Crystal And Holly Both Dated Hugh Hefner

Holly and Crystal both had romantic relationship with Hugh Hefner (who died in 2017), with the latter going on to marry him shortly before his death. They were both Bunnies and lived in the mansion.

Holly became one of Hugh Hefner’s girlfriends in 2001 and quickly rose to fame as the main girlfriend on the E! reality television series The Girls Next Door, which debuted in 2005. The show provided an inside look at life in the Playboy Mansion and showcased Madison’s life alongside Hefner and fellow girlfriends Bridget Marquardt and Kendra Wilkinson.

Madison’s relationship with Hefner lasted until 2008, and she was often portrayed as the “number one girlfriend.” Madison left the Playboy Mansion following their breakup and later published a memoir, “Down the Rabbit Hole,” detailing her negative experiences.

Crystal began dating Hugh Hefner in 2009, shortly after Madison’s departure from the mansion. Despite a brief hiccup when Crystal called off their wedding days before the ceremony in June 2011, the couple reconciled and married on December 31, 2012, at the Playboy Mansion. She’s been relatively silent in response to disturbing allegations that have emerged about Hugh since his death, but she did recently admit he wouldn’t have survived the #MeToo movement.
