On 90 Day Fiancé, couples who have long-distance relationships around the world come together to see if their courtship will actually lead them down the aisle.

The show has been running for 10 seasons and has even inspired spin-off series like 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After.

As with most reality shows, this is a premise that inevitably leads to drama on screen.

When Danielle met Mohamed online, the two began a long-distance relationship.

However, Danielle’s children were suspicious of Mohamed, because he didn’t treat her well.

When the two divorced, many seemed to be on Danielle’s side, since it was believed Mohamed was just using her. However, it seems like there are plenty of viewers who don’t believe Danielle was so innocent either.

Many Were Suspicious Of Mohamed’s Intentions And Didn’t Like The Way He Treated Danielle

After meeting in a chat room online, Danielle and Mohamed got engaged. This is how most stories on 90 Day Fiancé begin. Mohamed then made his way to the United States on a K-1 visa.

However, there were already major red flags that caused Danielle’s kids to question Mohamed’s intentions. For starters, he didn’t treat Danielle very well and didn’t show any physical interest in her. Engaging in physical intimacy was something Mohamed clearly didn’t want to do. He didn’t even make an effort to get along with Danielle’s children.

It certainly appeared as though Mohamed just wanted to marry Danielle so he could divorce her and stay in the United States. Again, these motives are suspected of many other couples on 90 Day Fiancé. At one point, Mohamed didn’t communicate with Danielle for two whole weeks when he pretended to go to work.

Meanwhile, Danielle was dealing with a mountain of credit card debt. She was also accused of fraudulently using another person’s credit card. To many people’s surprise, Mohamed and Danielle did get married, but he refused to kiss his new wife at the ceremony.

Shortly after the wedding, Mohamed went to live with a female friend in Florida. Despite the many red flags, Danielle was still shocked after she discovered intimate photos of Mohamed with the woman online. Danielle’s next course of action was to have the marriage annulled so that Mohamed would be deported.

In one memorable scene, fans watched as Danielle screamed at Mohamed on the street, throwing her evidence binder at him. However, it was decided the marriage would end in divorce instead.

Fans Of The Show Criticized Danielle And Accused Her Of Being Manipulative

When first hearing about Danielle and Mohamed’s story, it’s easy to picture Danielle as the one viewers would feel bad for. Most assumed fans would take Danielle’s side.

However, a Reddit thread was started by a user who actually believed Danielle wasn’t as innocent as she seemed at first glance.

• “Hear me out,” the user wrote. “I have never seen this season .. I always thought Mohammad was awful and Danielle was a saint that got screwed .. I am not seeing that .. she lied about her finances, her house is a mess every time camera pans down on carpet I gag .. she literally uses her daughters to guilt him. I know at one of the reunions he says something vile ( I haven’t seen it yet) but Danielle is not a prize. What am I missing?”
• One user wrote, “Maturing is realizing that Mohamed was not as bad as everyone made him seem.”
• “To me Danielle is the worst,” another wrote. “She’s abusive, manipulative, obsessive and unreasonable. Living with her must have been pure torture. I don’t know if Mohammed’s original plan was to scam her out of a green card but boy he did not deserve this. He has shown more restraint than I would have done.”

Many of the fans pointed to Danielle’s crying and accused her of being fake. They claimed she was being “manipulative” and used her crying as a way to get people to side with her.

“Crocodile tears. There’s never been a wet cheek from her,” one user wrote. Another commented, “Yes it’s so manipulative I just can’t.”

However, not everyone bought this and gave Danielle the benefit of the doubt.

“Absolutely no fan of hers at all but hear me out,” someone posted. “I’m somebody who cries really easily. I cry when I’m happy, I cry when I’m sad, I cry when I’m angry, and a couple times I have been told that I was being manipulative but I swear that was not even on my radar I just started crying. I’ve been like that ever since I was little. So that is the one and only concession I kind of make to her because I don’t know if she’s actually trying to manipulate or if she’s just an easy crier.”

Danielle Revealed Her And Mohamed Are Better Off As Friends, Not Romantic Partners

In 2021, Danielle opened up to Us Weekly about her relationship with Mohamed and their current feelings for each other. According to Danielle, there were “no romantic feelings” between the two.

“I think that we’re better off as friends,” Danielle told the outlet. “We’re very supportive of each other and we’re just better off as friends. I mean, he’s supportive of my schooling and I’m supportive of his job. I think what helps me to communicate with Mohammed is my dad used to be a truck driver and I talked to him about his trucking job.”

Fans of the series saw Danielle and Mohamed reunite for the first time in an episode of 90 Day: The Single Life. Danielle opened up about how she felt about that first conversation since their divorce.

“That first conversation, I felt like I got some of the closure that I needed,” Danielle said of their reunion. “But then when we had the second conversation via zoom [and] I definitely got more of the closure that I needed, and I felt much better after the second conversation.”

Danielle told the outlet that making their marriage public hurt the relationship. She explained this is why the two have “kept people out of our friendship, and we keep everything between me and him.”

Viewers didn’t get a chance to see the pair reconcile on camera, but Danielle said that she has “gotten the apology” she deserved from Mohamed. While the two have had a bumpy history together, Danielle said her friendship with Mohamed has brought her peace.

“I never thought that it would happen, but he’s [grown] over the years. He’s in his 30s now, you know, they say guys mature later,” Danielle said. “So, I think he’s matured a lot over the years after being out on his own and having things happen to him and he’s realized that I was a good person and that I did a lot for him and took him that long to realize it.”

Danielle added that she believes Mohamed “genuinely” wants to have a close friendship with her now that he doesn’t “need anything from me.” She also said that her kids are “okay” with the former couple’s friendship. Danielle said that Mohamed is “really fond” of her youngest and that he is “always asking about her” when they talk.

Mohamed would later reveal a new wife and child in 2024. Prior to this revelation, however, Danielle told Us that she would be “okay” with Mohamed finding someone else.

“I mean he deserves to be happy too, but I think right now he’s just too busy with truck driving,” she said.

Earlier that year, Mohamed posted a video on his social media where he gave fans an update on the status of their relationship.

“I just remind myself I’m doing something good,” Mohamed said about his new job. “There is nothing to worry about.”

Mohamed also surprised fans by revealing that he texted Danielle amid the pandemic to check up on her. This was shocking to viewers, given how their divorce played out.

“It’s a good time to make some peace,” Mohamed explained. “I hope now that she sees that I’m not the bad guy that she always thought I am. You know, it’s been back and forth between me and Danielle apologizing to each other for stuff that we said about each other.”

Mohamed also shared that the experience with Danielle taught him a lesson.

“That’s taught me how to be careful next time choosing the person that’s going to be with me for the rest of my life,” he said.

Danielle later spoke to In Touch in 2024 about Mohamed’s new family.

“I have known her name since January this year,” she said of his new wife, Jillian Lee Jbali. “We talk privately and he has shared a photo of the baby with me. The baby is a boy and he is precious.”

While Danielle said she didn’t know much about Jillian, she did know that Mohamed’s new wife was “a few years younger than him.”

“They have known each other for several years before getting married,” Danielle said. “Mohamed and me are friends and we support each other and want the best for each other.”
