Simone Biles, often hailed as the American queen of gymnastics, has urged fans and journalists to stop asking Olympians a particular question.
According to her, this question has been asked too frequently lately, and athletes are becoming weary of it.
For those who missed it, Ukraine recently won another gold and bronze medal at the 2024 Olympics.
Biles, who has become the most decorated American gymnast after winning gold at the Paris Olympics, is now competing in her third Games.
Over her Olympic career, the 27-year-old has won seven gold, one silver, and two bronze medals in Rio de Janeiro, Tokyo, and Paris. As a seasoned Olympic athlete, Biles is asking everyone to stop asking her and other Olympians what’s next after winning a medal.
“What’s next? You guys should stop asking athletes what’s next after we win an Olympic medal. Let us enjoy the moment we’ve worked our whole lives for,” Biles wrote on her profile on X (formerly Twitter).
Biles also responded to a follower who asked a similar question with a brief and to-the-point answer: “Cherishing the medal.” Additionally, Biles addressed criticism directed at her fiancé, NFL player Jonathan Owens, who tried on her gold medal. Some users accused him of taking credit for her victory. Biles responded firmly:
“The craziness is that I put my medal on every member of my family and took a picture with them. So never make assumptions,” she said.
Rumors suggest that Biles might retire after the Paris Olympics, but she has hinted at the possibility of competing in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
