Ben Affleck has reportedly been a shoulder for Jennifer Garner to cry on after his ex-wife lost her father last month.

While fans may find his support sweet, it may be bothering his wife, Jennifer Lopez, who has reportedly had an issue with how close Affleck and Garner remain despite their divorce.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, a source claimed Ben has been “actively involved” in Garner’s life and is helping her grieve.

“He has been checking in on her and making sure she knows he is there for her since her dad’s passing. It was the kids’ grandfather and Ben and him always got along,” the insider explained. “He considered him family and always will.”

Despite the tragedy, the source said Garner is “beyond dealing with this loss,” and she’s ” in a very happy place and gets along.”

They also made reference to Lopez, saying she and Garner have “gotten closer, which is nice for both of them.”

Even though divorce rumors have been following Jen and Ben for months, the source claims things are going good for the couple. “They are doing well and are very happy together,” they dished. “Their kids bring them even closer together and keep them humble. Jen and Ben are supportive of one another and just want the best for their relationship and family.”

The insider added, “Their kids love being a blended family and mesh well together. They’re all kind and get along well.”

While the source didn’t elaborate further on how Lopez feels about Affleck coming to Garner’s side in the wake of her family’s loss, previous reports have suggested their relationship makes Jen insecure. After photos were published of Garner and Affleck embracing last fall, one report claimed Lopez was insisting on couple’s counseling to establish boundaries.

Garner originally announced her father’s death in a touching tribute made to Instagram. “My dad passed peacefully Saturday afternoon. We were with him, singing Amazing Grace as he left us (did we carry him across or scare him away— valid question,)” she wrote.

“While there is no tragedy in the death of an 85-year-old man who lived a healthy, wonderful life, I know grief is unavoidable, waiting around unexpected corners,” she went on.

“There is so much to say about my dad— my sisters and I will never be done talking about how wonderful he was, so bear with us— but for today I share these memories with my appreciation for the kind and brilliant man, father, and grandfather he was, as well as the loving legacy he left behind,” Garner continued.

Garner and Affleck share three children from their past marriage which spanned 2005 to 2018. He’s been married since 2022, though they were previously engaged in the early 2000s, before calling it off in 2004.
