Jeremy Renner Credits 11-Year-Old Daughter For His Recovery After Life-Threatening Accident

On New Year’s Day in 2023, Jeremy Renner’s life changed forever.

Due to a tragic domestic accident involving a snowplow, the famous actor broke multiple bones and almost lost his life while he was hanging out with his nephew near his own home in Nevada.

Now, over a year later, Jeremy Renner is doing a lot better, and he’s very grateful to everyone in his life who has supported him.

Especially his daughter Ava. While his daughter is only 11 years old, she was the driving force in his recovery, and he credits her for helping him push through the pain and get to the other side.

Jeremy Renner On How His Daughter Ava Helped Him Through His Recovery

Jeremy Renner went through an incredibly tough time, but he credits his 11-year-old daughter Ava for his practically miraculous, almost full recovery. She was the one that kept him going, the actor shared, even when the hardships and pain made him want to give up.

“She is everything. She’s my life force. I felt such guilt for not wanting to come back ’cause I was OK not coming back to this planet, but I felt so bad because I forgot about my daughter,” Jeremy Renner admitted to ET.

“I forgot about everybody else, but she’s my life force, man. It took me away from any pain. I would feel, ‘So, all I have to do is get better for her’ [because] when you do that, you’re not worried about yourself and how you’re feeling and how broken you are.”

The Hawkeye star explained how her continued support and having to worry about her helped him focus on something other than the pain. “It’s like, ‘How do I help my daughter not be scared that her dad’s not doing so well?’ So, it was quite a blessing to have her as my ally, my champion through this, and she became a much stronger young woman because of that.”

Update On Jeremy Renner’s Recovery

Earlier this year, Jeremy Renner shared some updates about his recovery, putting fans’ minds at ease. He’s been doing very well, even though he knows his recovery will probably carry on throughout his whole life, but for now, he’s happy.

“[I’m doing] probably 90 percent of all the things I needed to be doing… I think another six months will be hopefully running [more]… I got to set goals for myself. I’ll do whatever I can… whatever it takes to get better, to get stronger,” he told ET. “It’s a one-way street, this recovery. The rest of my life is about health and wellness. Recovery will be part of the rest of my life, so I look forward to it, man. There’s always something to do to get better, be stronger, be happier, be healthier, and that’s what I look forward to.”

It’s still difficult for him to think long-term for now, but he’s up for the challenge. “It’s hard for me to look back, to be honest with you. It’s hard for me to look forward. I focus on now and this next step in front of me, ’cause there’s always another obstacle for me right now.”

With the right support system and his tenacious attitude, he will undoubtedly overcome this difficult moment of his life.
