Marlon Wayans has admitted that he finally accepted that his oldest child is transgender.

The comedian opened up about his feelings initially and how he feels now.

Marlon, 51, is releasing a new comedy special, Good Grief, which is coming out on Amazon Prime Video on June 4.

In the special, he opens up about his personal life and real life experiences.

And one of those experiences is when Marlon found out his child, Kai, was transgender.

“I’m very vulnerable nowadays onstage,” he told People.

“I don’t know why it took me so long to do standup. Now I can’t stop.”

“That’s my therapy. Life happens, and I go, ‘What’s funny about it?’ I’m literally trying to rescue myself,” Marlon said.

The actor revealed that he was “thrown into soul-searching” when his oldest child revealed they were transgender.

Marlon went through his own transition “from defiance to acceptance.”

He revealed that it took him a week to accept his child’s new gender.

“And in that week I grew the most that I ever did in my life. You understand the purpose of kids and the beauty of unconditional love,” Marlon revealed.

“At the end of the day, in my heart, only thing that matters to me is that my child is happy.”

‘GIFTING LESSONS’

Marlon said that he talked about his experience in the new special to to “gift not just laughter but some lessons.”

And his son was okay with him talking about it.

“I have a contract with my kids: ‘Whatever you do in life, just know that there’s a possibility I’m going to find some humor and talk about it,” he explained.

“I feel like it was important for me to once again find the light in the darkness and gift that to the audience because I feel like there’s so many people that are going through it,” Marlon ended.

However, one thing that he is not joking about it his custody battle with his ex, Brittany Moreland, over their daughter, Axl.

Marlon shares Kai, 24, and Shawn, 22, with ex Angela Zackery, and Axl, 18 months, with Brittany.

‘UNCONDITIONAL LOVE AND ACCEPTANCE’

Marlon first revealed that his son is transgender in November 2023 on the podcast, The Breakfast Club.

“I have a daughter that transitioned into a son,” he told the host.

“My daughter Amai is now Kai.”

Marlon then explained how he dealt with the transition.

“My transition as a parent, going from ignorance and denial to complete unconditional love and acceptance,” he said.

He ended by saying that he hopes there are parents out that that he can help but sharing his story.
