Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have sent plenty of shockwaves rippling through the Royal Family over the last five years since quitting the Firm.

However, according to one royal expert, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had rattled Buckingham Palace even before what was eventually dubbed ‘Megxit’.

Daily Mail Diary Editor Richard Eden claimed that Meghan’s choice give a candid interview with Vanity Fair in 2017 was a concern for the palace,

especially as her relationship with Prince Harry became the primary focus of the article, with the cover headline saying the duchess was “wild” about the prince.

This worried the Palace, especially as other women marrying into the Royal Family only did interviews organised by Palace officials under strict conditions prior to their nuptials.

And this usually happened after a royal engagement was announced, however Meghan’s interview with Vanity Fair in 2017 came two months before Harry proposed.

A royal source claimed to Eden: “While people were pleased that Harry had found a serious girlfriend, the article did set alarm bells ringing. It made people worry that Miss Markle was seeking to use the relationship for publicity purposes.”

A source close to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex told Mail Online that Kensington Palace had approved Meghan’s interview in 2017. However, it was rebuked the Palace did not know the exact details it would contain. The duchess has been the focus of another Vanity Fair article just last week, which was believed to have been “distressing” for the couple as it contained harsh accusations against them.
