Michael Cera Apologized To Seth Meyers For His Physical Appearance, But The Host Revealed He Was Already Warned

Fame can be toxic, and Michael Cera learned all about that early on.

The actor wasn’t ready for that type of stardom following Superbad, and it would lead to indecisiveness towards his future.

At one point in time, Cera considered walking away for good.

Fans are happy he didn’t. Not only is he a great actor, but Cera is always unpredictable during interviews.

He caught everyone off-guard in the past for his red carpet comments on Jason Bateman.

Michael Cera apologizes to Seth Meyers for his blond hair

The same held true most recently on Late Night with Seth Meyers, as the actor looked dramatically different in a rare TV appearance. The interview did not disappoint, and we can say the same about Cera’s new look.

Michael Cera Apologized To Seth Meyers For His Blonde Hair, But Admits It Would Look Worse Had He Cut It

Michael Cera certainly had nothing he needed to apologize for. However, it made the scenario that much more hilarious as Cera was apologetic for his hair. Host Seth Meyers admits he was briefed by his team prior to the interview, and looking back, he was very happy that was the case.

“My producer today said, ‘Michael wants me to let you know that he’s blond. I didn’t quite know what to expect but I’m glad he told me.”

Cera then issues his hilarious apology and reasoning for the changed appearance.

“Well, I kind of want to apologize for it a little bit. No, but the thing is, I mean, my hair is in a weird place right now. And I know this is going out on TV and everything but… that’s all I wanted to say really.”

He added, “Can’t cut it right now because then I’ll have, like, frosted tips. Or I dye it back to my own color and that just feels wrong.”

The exchange takes place at the start of the interview below.

Michael Cera spoke about his Wes Anderson film in Berline, along with hosting SNL during the 2007 writers’ strike. He also discussed his recent project, and doing the voice work for Sausage Party: Foodtopia in his basement.

As always, the Michael Cera interview from just a couple of days ago was universally praised by fans.

The top comments on YouTube wrote:

  • “Michael Cera is in his Gene Wilder arc.”
  • “He’s such a cutie. I love that he’s been able to maintain some privacy for his family.”
  • “I like that they gave him a matching blonde mic.”

He lives a private life off-camera, but fans are hoping to see more of the actor down the road.

Speaking of physical appearances, Seth Meyers took a different road during his interview with Natalie Portman. Her ageless look was not on the agenda to start the interview off. Instead, the focus was on her career and life experiences, such as living in Paris, or her days on SNL.

Comments on YouTube were all about her physical appearance, but Meyers stayed away from the subject. A major reason for that has to be due to Portman’s past comments on the way women are treated in Hollywood. The actress opened up, stating that women are held to a different standard.

“This aspect of, even here — the different ways we as women are expected to behave at this festival even compared to men.”

“How we’re supposed to look, how we’re supposed to carry ourselves. The expectations are different on you all the time and it affects how you behave, whether you’re buying into it, whether you’re rejecting it or whether you’re doing something in between. You’re definitely defined by the social structures upon you.”

Portman continues on today, trying to make a difference in Hollywood by restructuring the way women are viewed.

Michael Cera’s Fame Almost Caused Him To Leave Hollywood For Good

Superbad changed Michael Cera’s career. On the flip side, it almost ended it too. Cera almost quit acting at 19, in fear that more opportunities would lead to more global fame.

Speaking with The Guardian, Cera spoke candidly about his struggles behind the scenes early on.

“I didn’t know how to handle walking down the street,” Cera said.

“Fame makes you very uncomfortable in your own skin, and makes you paranoid and weird. There were lots of great things about it, and I met a lot of amazing people, but there’s a lot of bad energies, too, ones that I was not equipped to handle.”

He continues, “You know, if people are drunk, and they recognize you, and they’re very enthusiastic, but it can be kind of toxic too. When you’re a kid, people also feel they can kind of grab you — they’re not that respectful of you or your physical space. I didn’t know how to respectfully establish my own boundaries. It was like a burning feeling the whole time, just like everybody was so aware of me. It was a mistake.”

Cera concluded that his team was very disappointed at the time, given that he was passing on major opportunities like hosting SNL. At that point, the actor was uncertain about his career, and wanted to leave altogether. Thankfully, he continues on while living a private life away from the camera.
