Robin Williams did a lot of good for this world, and that was recently echoed by teen star Lisa Jakub. The former actress revealed that Williams would speak to her in a mature manner and as an adult. The late actor was ‘super honest about mental health’ even before it was a thing.

In addition, Jakub revealed information fans never knew about. Jakub was apparently kicked out of her high school for taking on Mrs. Doubtfire. After Williams found out, he immediately attempted to get her back in.

Jakub revealed, “The amazing thing was Robin saw that I was upset — he asked me what was going on,” Jakub said. “He wrote a letter to my principal saying that he wanted them to rethink this decision and that I was just trying to pursue my education and career at the same time, and could they please support me in this. The principal got the letter, framed the letter, put it up in the office, and didn’t ask me to come back. Amazing.”

Jakub also told Variety about how Williams was always honest about his emotions and mental health battles.

“The amazing thing was he would talk to me about his struggles and the things that he went through. And it was the first time that I felt like, ‘Oh, I’m not a freak. I don’t have to hide this about myself. This is just something that some of us have to deal with.’”

Not only was the film a major success in the ’90s, but Williams also changed the lives of the young actors.

Lisa Jakub left acting at a young age. Over a decade ago, Jakub opened about her decision. The main reason was the desire to act wasn’t there, and it just wasn’t fun.

“So, I decided I should leave, before I became one of those alcoholic/eating disorder ravaged/drug addicted train wrecks of a former child actor,” Jakub wrote. “I had no desire to be a cautionary tale.”

According to her IG account, Jakub is an author, speaker, and has delved into yoga and meditation as well. As for a return to acting, that doesn’t seem to be happening as her IG profile indicates, ‘Retired Actor.’ Although her career didn’t last, she’ll always be remembered for such an iconic role.
