Obsessed Miley Cyrus fan who spent nearly £3,000 getting 29 tattoos of the star has now vowed to get them removed because she said they were ‘creepy’

An obsessed Miley Cyrus fan who spent almost £3,000 having 29 tattoos dedicated to her inked all over his body now wants them removed – after the singer branded them ‘creepy’ and ‘ugly’.

Father-of-three Carl McCoid, 42, from Bridlington, East Yorkshire, had his first Miley tattoo in 2010 and since then he has covered his body with ‘dedication’ portraits of his idol, her lyrics and initials.

Mr McCoid, who owns an ironing business, even named one of his daughters after the controversial singer.

But he now says he has had a change of heart after Miley branded his tattoos were ‘ugly’ and ‘creepy’ during interviews.

Mr McCoid said: ‘I got my first tattoo of Miley after I was divorced in 2010, but it got to the point where it was getting obsessive.

‘Right now I have 29 tattoos done and have spent £2,800. I never thought I would regret it.’

Miley told an American interviewer: ‘There’s a dude that holds a record of the most pictures of my face, he has like 18 pictures of my face and they’re really ugly.’

The star has even blocked Mr McCoid on Twitter because of his obsession and he was branded a ‘stalker’ by the American media.

The tattoos, which include her lyrics and face, cost almost £3,000 - but it will cost far more to remove them

Now single Mr McCoid has made the decision to have some of the tattoos removed – in the hope it  will help him find a girlfriend.

I’m only regretting them now. I never thought about it too much, but they have had a psychological affect on me

‘I’m only regretting them now,’ he said. ‘I never thought about it too much, but they have had a psychological affect on me.

‘Then she mentioned they were creepy in an interview. It made me realise I didn’t like them.’

Mr McCoid plans to have three of his portrait tattoos laser-removed, an expensive ordeal which could last years and would cost far more than the original tattoos.

He hopes a new appearance will help him find a girlfriend and give him a fresh outlook on life so he can ‘look to the future’.

Despite his unusual appearance Mr McCoid’s friends maintain there is more to him than meets the eye.

His co-worker, 47-year-old Alison Buckley said: ‘I think he’s doing the right thing by having some removed. I’ve been telling him for quite a while to tone them down a bit.

‘At first I thought ‘oh God’, but I got used to him and saw beyond the tattoos and he’s actually a really nice guy.’

Her 20-year-old daughter Larissa Buckley, who also works with Mr McCoid, added: ‘I’ve known him for three years. I thought it was a bit odd. I took him at face value.

‘You see what other people are saying about him, they must think he’s a right weirdo. But when you take time to know him there really is a lot more to it.’

No stranger to the limelight, Mr McCoid has made appearances on several television shows including My Tattoo Addiction and Never Mind the Buzzcocks.

His latest decision has now been picked up by the national press along with the producers behind TV show Tattoo Disasters UK.

‘I’m a little nervous about it,’ he said. ‘I just let everything out. Its going to focus on how I felt when Miley said she didn’t like the tattoos.

‘It’s going to be emotional.’
