Princess Diana’s priceless family heirloom that Princess Charlotte is set to inherit

Princess Charlotte may only be nine-years-old, but there is no doubt she is one of the most popular members of the Royal Family.

As the only daughter of Prince William and Princess Kate, Charlotte often makes the headlines after public appearances for her outfit choices, sweet mannerisms,

or even the way she puts her brothers Prince George, 11, and Prince Louis, six, in their place.

While it is well-known that the princess is, behind-closed-doors,

quite similar to millions of other young girls around the world, there is one family heirloom she is set to inherit that no one else in the world will have.

As reported by The Mirror, palace sources have said that Charlotte is set to have first pick at the late Princess Diana’s jewellery collection as a result of being the eldest granddaughter.

Prince Harry’s daughter Princess Lilibet will also get to choose some of Diana’s items.

However, it has been reported that Charlotte will be able to inherit the Spencer Tiara, which is currently in the care of Diana’s brother Earl Charles Spencer.

Speaking about the heirloom to GoodToKnow, a royal source claimed: “William is close with his uncle and has asked if his mother’s namesake tiara can be given to Charlotte someday.

“William is quite aware the Earl has daughters of his own, but the two have agreed that Diana’s iconic piece belongs to her first granddaughter.”

The Spencer Tiara was worn by Diana on her wedding to the now-King Charles in 1981. The family heirloom was designed by Garrard in the 1930s and was made using other pieces of jewellery the Spencer family owned.

While Charlotte is still young, it is believed she is aware of the heirloom she will one day inherit. A source told NewIdea that Charlotte was “giddy with excitement” about the tiara, which will allow her to have a piece of Princess Diana with her.

Diana sadly died in 1997 before Prince William met Princess Kate and had children.

Princess Kate, 43, owns Princess Diana’s engagement ring from King Charles, which she wears proudly at public appearances.

During the time of their engagement, William said he wanted to use the ring to include Diana in the proceedings as she was no longer there. He said: “It’s my mother’s engagement ring. I thought it was quite nice because obviously she’s not around to share any of the fun and excitement of it all so this is my way of keeping her sort of close to it all.”
