Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker are notoriously affectionate in public, and on last night’s The Kardashians, Reign had quite a bit to say about the couple’s lovey-dovey antics.
Reign (Kourt’s son with Scott Disick) is nine, and his objection to his mom and step-father’s public displays of affection were a standout moment on last night’s episode of The Kardashians.
It wasn’t just Reign objecting though — fans of the show posited that Kourtney was “pushing” her children away.
One Kardashians’ fan described her as “selfish,” pointing to Kourt’s alleged and sustained resentment of Kris Jenner’s relationships with men other than Robert Kardashian (and, perhaps, her lingering anger over Kris’ confessed infidelity during her marriage to Robert):
It’s no secret that Kourtney is often the most scrutinized among her many sisters, and her relationship with Travis is a major source of conflict in the Kardashian-Jenner clan.
In that respect, it’s possible Reign’s plea to Kourtney and Travis was a case of him repeating what he’s heard when his mom isn’t around — but he seemed genuinely aggravated by all the “making out.”
Reign Snapped Due To His Mom And Step-Dad ‘Aggressively Kissing’
On last night’s episode of The Kardashians, Kourtney and Travis were reunited in Australia after nine days apart.
In a separate “confessional” segment, Kourtney said they hadn’t been apart for that long since their son Rocky was born late last year.
The couple took several of their children for a boat ride, at which time the pair began “aggressively kissing.”
That’s when Reign chimed in, apparently in a humorous manner:
“Stop making out with Travis, bro!
“Like, didn’t you just have a baby? Don’t [have] another one this quick!”
Reign also asked if Travis was “giving her a hickey,” but Kourtney said in a confessional that she believes openly displaying affection is healthy:
“I think it is a beautiful thing to see parents — especially ones that just had a new baby — be affectionate and loving.
“There’s nothing wrong with that.”
Although recaps of the show framed Reign’s remarks as “joking,” fans discussing the show got a different, less funny vibe from the whole thing.
On Reddit, a Kardashians viewer challenged Kourtney’s insistence the PDA was necessarily “beautiful,” expressing upset Reign’s perceived discomfort during the scene.
“Guys, the PDA thing is getting more and more uncomfortable. If they get off on ‘getting off’ on camera – fine, whatever tickles your pickle. HOWEVER does it need to be done in front of their kids?
“Reign being visibly confused and uncomfortable by their need to fondle each other publicly was not pleasant to watch. Not to mention kourtney’s relentless justification that it’s ‘good for kids to see their parents show love’ – I absolutely agree but love doesn’t need to be shown in a borderline sexual way.
“By all means hug each other and hold hands, even a little kiss here or there is great but they take it way too far. Travis is way too comfortable grabbing this woman’s [body] for all to see, it just doesn’t sit well with me. Have some respect dude[.]”
Kourt also compared Reign’s sense of humor to his father’s, saying he reminded her of Scott.
Kourtney And Travis Are Repeat PDA Offenders
And Her Kids Have Called Them Out Before
Last night’s Kardashians was not the first time objections were raised about Travis and Kourtney “making out” in public.
It’s not even the first time her children were the ones objecting, either.
In May 2022, Reign and her daughter Penelope begged the couple to “not French kiss” at the table:
In an eerie parallel to last night’s confessional, at the time, Kourt made almost identical statements when discussing her kids’ on-camera pleas (and added a veiled jab at her ex-husband, Scott):
“Kissing and hugging is not a bad thing … I’m actually grateful that my kids can see a loving, affectionate relationship because they haven’t seen that their whole lives.”
Back then, Travis was accused of being disrespectful, too, and BuzzFeed said the scene occurred just “months after Travis was filmed feeling [Kourtney] up in front of her entire family.”
