Arguably the top moment of the interview comes when Short reveals what it was really like to meet Gomez, and how she topped his expectations.
Short tells an emotional Selena, “I remember the first day we shot, I had never met you. I’m driving to work, and I’m thinking Selena Gomez could be a nightmare. What if she’s late? What if she’s a nightmare? And then I said hello to you, and I was already in love. Never a second late. The biggest pro I’ve ever worked with.”
Selena thanked Short for the compliment, while admitting to being very nervous on her first day.

Steve Martin Didn’t Know What To Expect Either When Meeting Selena Gomez
Similar to Martin Short, Steve Martin wasn’t sure what to expect when meeting Selena Gomez. However, he would soon see their friendship blossom into something special.
Only Murders in the Building season 4 is set for late August.
Martin tells People , “I think it just gets deeper and deeper and deeper. She is so lovely as a human, she’s so remarkable as a talent, and she just has an aura and this lovely spirit. Our friendship grows and grows.”
- He continues, “We didn’t really know Selena, we didn’t know what we’re getting into. I knew she has a fabulous personality, she’s very smart. But she is never late.”
- “And that’s a very big deal when you’re making a movie, if people are standing around like, ‘Where is so-and-so?,’” Martin continues. “She is on the mark…We all march down the steps together. It’s fabulous. But it gives you an insight into her own personality and professionalism.”
