Shanna Moakler gave an honest update about where she stands with Travis Barker, whom she shares two children with.
The former reality star has admitted their co-parenting relationship has become strained since he started dating Kourtney Kardashian, who he wed in 2022.
But based on her recent comments, it doesn’t sound like much has improved.
Why Shanna Says She Doesn’t Talk To Travis
“We don’t speak anymore,” Shanna said in an interview with PEOPLE. “I don’t have a relationship with Travis, but I think that’s OK. I don’t feel like it’ll be like that forever, but I feel like right now — I think that’s where we are at in our evolution, and maybe in the future, it’ll change.”
When asked if she believes they could get back to speaking terms, Shanna made a blanket statement about her past partners, saying she “just” doesn’t “care about her exes at the moment.”
“I know I’m talking about it here with you — and I really can’t do anything without talking about it — because it’s just kind of stuck with me, which is fine,” she went on, before referencing the death of her parents, which happened last year. Shanna admitted she’s focused on healing from her loss.
“But I really care more about just healing from the loss of my family and my support system, and just really trying to find out what my next move in life is,” she explained. “I’m an empty nester and turning 50, and I’m just trying to find my place in the world again without my parents or a partner.”
Travis And Shanna Have Had Conflict For Years
Travis and Shanna first crossed paths in early 2002. Their whirlwind romance quickly progressed, and they were married by 2004. The couple welcomed two children during their marriage: a son, Landon, born in 2003, and a daughter, Alabama, born in 2005.
Additionally, Barker was a stepfather to Moakler’s daughter, Atiana, from her previous relationship with boxer Oscar De La Hoya.
Their relationship was thrust into the public eye through their reality TV show, Meet the Barkers, which aired on MTV. The show ran for two seasons from April 2005 to February 2006, giving audiences an inside look at their family life and the dynamics of their marriage.
Despite the apparent glamour, the show also hinted at underlying tensions and conflicts within the relationship. The couple’s marriage began to unravel, leading to their separation in 2006. They filed for divorce in August of that year, and it was finalized in 2008.
Since their divorce, both Barker and Moakler have moved on to new relationships. Shanna has been linked to various partners, while Barker’s romantic life took a significant turn in 2021 when he began dating Kourtney Kardashian. They’re now married and welcomed a son last fall. Unfortunately, Shanna has hinted that the couple’s relationship has caused tension between her and her kids, admitting she can’t keep up with the Kardashian’s lavish lifestyle.
