What Shannen’s Mother Said In Her Memory
On Monday, Rosa Doherty shared a heartfelt statement with PEOPLE regarding the unexpected passing of her daughter.
“She is my beautiful girl and my heart,” Rosa expressed. “Our family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support for Shannen throughout her life. We truly appreciate it.”
Shannen was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. Although she went into remission two years later, the cancer returned at stage 4. In 2020, she revealed the cancer’s recurrence, and by 2023, it had spread to her bones.

Shannen’s doctor recently gave insight into how they 90210 star passed away, revealing she was surrounded by loved ones. But she was apparently having financial struggles at the time of her debut, multiple reports confirm.
The U.S. Sun uncovered that Doherty had taken out a $3 million unconventional mortgage and a $150,000 bank loan while fighting cancer. Until her final days, she was entangled in a prolonged court battle with her ex-husband, Kurt Iswarienko.

Less than a year before her death, Shannen secured a $3 million home loan on her Malibu property from ClearEdge Lending LLC, known for offering non-traditional mortgages. Financial records reveal that her Malibu home, valued at $6 million, was her main asset.
Her production company, Shando Productions Inc., earned her $21,642 monthly, yet her expenses totaled $53,080, leaving a significant deficit.
The actress had substantial outgoings, including $99,430 paid to her divorce attorney and an additional $170,635 owed. Other expenses included a $19,375 monthly mortgage and $731 interest on a $150,000 Small Business Administration loan.
In 2018, Doherty took out another $2.8 million home loan, with the interest rate increasing by 3.25 percent last August. Her monthly bills included $3,590 in property taxes, $4,103 for house maintenance, and $1,548 for utilities.
A day before she passed away, Shannen filed for divorce from Kurt, waiving her spousal support request and declaring, “I knowingly give up forever any right to receive spousal or partner support.” The U.S. Sun confirmed that Doherty was granted a posthumous divorce this week.
The final judgment restored her and Iswarienko to single status, awarding her their Malibu marital home, art, furniture, several vehicles, and a Salvador Dali painting. She also received rights to Kurt’s photography business and half the licensing fees from photos and videos taken during their marriage.
