As one of the most famous Black artists of this generation, Beyoncé has long withstood rumors about her hair.
Now, the singer is allowing the public a look into her hair wash routine that helps maintain her natural hair.
In the process, she also ended up quashing all the rumors that circulated about her hair.
The video resulted from the singer’s recent release of a hair care brand called Cécred. In the caption, she explained that she wanted to share her own haircare routine after seeing so many videos posted by people using her new brand. “I just had to join in with something I had in the archives 🥰,” she wrote.
The GRAMMY-winning artist continued in the caption, “Being disruptive and challenging everything people feel should be the process has always been exciting to me. My hair and music seemed to do that a lot over the years.”
The singer tells her audience in the video that she has chosen “color over perms and relaxers,” and she explains that over the years, “maintaining 25 years of blonde on natural hair through all the experimenting I do” helped her develop a brand that prioritizes natural hair health.
“It’s the hardest to keep color-treated hair healthy and strong,” the brand owner noted in the caption for her post. However, the video she posted suggests that it is well worth the effort.
In the video, Beyoncé can be seen getting her hair washed. As her hair is washed, her hair’s real curly texture is revealed which she has maintained despite “25 years of blonde on natural hair.” After the various products are applied and washed off her hair. She assists the stylist in drying her hair and then straightening it. After her hair is straightened, it is put in curlers. She explains that she always prefers low heat on her hair which helps her to maintain the natural pattern of her curls.
“The stigma and misconception is that people that wear wigs don’t have long and healthy hair,” Beyoncé says in the voiceover for the video. “That’s some bulls**t ’cause it ain’t nobody business.”
Her followers were very happy with her video. With one person commenting in assent, “Beyoncé please say it louder for the people in the back!!! Just because we wear (protective styles) wigs, that does NOT mean that we are bald.” Another person added, “It’s GORGEOUS & the fact that you kept it healthy with the blonde color is remarkable!”
Another fan added their appreciation, saying, “I’m so glad she did this. Because you can’t be selling and promoting natural hair products if you can’t show or rock your natural hair.”
The singer’s final hairstyle is gorgeous and styled on her real hair. The singer posted the video to show how, despite coloring her hair for over two decades, she has prioritized hair health, which allows her to experiment with different hairstyles. Watch Beyonce’s video below.
