It’s been years since John Travolta lost his wife Kelly Preston to a secret battle with cancer, but a new report says the actor isn’t moving on – and possible never will.
Speaking to Closer Magazine, a source claims that Travolta is struggling to put himself out there, romantically and otherwise.
“John doesn’t have a lot of work lined up, he’s got two projects but nothing he’s really passionate about,” they explained. “His religion doesn’t seem to be the biggest priority for him anymore either.”
John Is Reportedly Struggling To Open Up
The source went on, “Since Kelly’s passing he’s just not as connected to Scientology as he once was. Bottom line, John is afraid to open up, to be vulnerable again and fall in love, which is very sad because he’s the kindest, nicest guy and he has one of the biggest hearts of anyone we know.”
Another source told the publication that John is open to finding love again, but any potential partners have “big shoes to fill.”
However, he apparently did grow close to his most recent co-star Kristen David, who he’s starring alongside in Cash Out. Apparently, even the actor’s two kids were hopeful their connection may turn romantic.
“He’s totally smitten with her, thinks she’s adorable,” they explained. “They’re both single, and they really like each other, so of course everyone wants them to date. The most surprising people on the John and Kristin romance bandwagon are John’s kids, Ella and Ben.”
They source added, “While no one could replace their mom, they think Kristin is great and that their dad should get back out there and start having fun.”
Travolta May Be Hiring A Matchmaker
Previous reports have said the actor is open to dating following Kelly’s death in 2020, including a January report. But the recent source’s insights suggest that Travolta is struggling with his singlehood, and is perhaps even putting a pause on moving on due to the challenges.
“John just needed to feel ready, and now he is,” a source told National Enquirer . “He knows Kelly wouldn’t want him to spend the rest of his life alone, so he’s finally allowing friends to line him up with dates.”
They even said the actor has considered using professional help, “John believes a matchmaker would save time by finding someone who meets his list of criteria. He’s not asking for much, just that she be kind, warm, gracious, funny, and spontaneous. And being attractive wouldn’t hurt.”
Kelly and John originally met while filming The Experts in 1987. They married in 1991. The couple welcomed three children: Jett, Ella Bleu, and Benjamin. Tragically, their eldest son, Jett, passed away in 2009 at the age of 16.
Preston later died in July 2020 after battling breast cancer for two years. Her death was announced by Travolta on Instagram, where he expressed his deep sorrow and gratitude for the support they received during her illness.
