Looking back, there was a lot that took place on Euphoria that fans didn’t notice.
Among them, was a fake Sydney Sweeney in front of our faces during a particular stunt on the series.
However, when it came time for intimate scenes, a double was never used, and the actress took on the scenes herself.
Jacob Elordi opened up about what the process was like behind the scenes.
We are going to reveal why Elordi called the experience completely different compared to anything he did on the show.
In addition, we are going to look at a certain scene that both Elordi and Sydney Sweeney requested be changed, and it was for the better in the end.
We will conclude by featuring Sweeney’s thoughts on intimate scenes throughout her run on Euphoria, and which revealing scenes she turned down.
Jacob Elordi Said Shooting With Sydney Sweeney Was A Completely Different Experience
Euphoria season 2 featured a surprising storyline that saw Nate and Cassie come together. During an interview with EW, Jacob Elordi opened up about the experience. The actor revealed the dynamic was completely different between his scenes with Sweeney and Alexa Demie, who plays Maddy on the show.
What did Elordi say about shooting intimate scenes with Sydney Sweeney?
- “Completely different working with Syd,” Elordi revealed.
- “With that particular storyline, I tried to treat it almost like I was making a romance film because I needed to have something different in my eyes in the way that I looked at her. Whereas when I was working with Alexa last season, it was like a drama. Everything was combative, everything was always on edge, everything was always worried — I needed to play every scene like it was a battle.”
The actor continues, “With Sydney, I never really thought about love a lot in the first season, where I was saying earlier, this season for me was about love. So I tried to play the scenes almost as if I was making a completely different movie, you know?”
Did Elordi enjoy his scenes with Sydney Sweeney?
- “She’s so, so good at what she does that it was just such a treat the entire time working with her. She brings it every single take, every single scene,” Elordi revealed.
Sydney Sweeney does have a say in the intimate scenes she will and won’t do on Euphoria.
Sydney Sweeney Also Asked For A Scene To Be Changed While Working With Jacob Elordi
In addition to their chemistry together, Sweeney and Elordi were also very hands-on with their characters on the show. That was particularly the case during a scene that sees Nate and Cassie arguing. Sweeney revealed an interesting behind the scenes detail, as Sam Levinson to re-write a certain moment.
What change did Sweeney and Elordi request?
- Sweeney revealed, “Jacob and I did the scene as it was written, and we were like, ‘There is so much more here that we could do that’s pent up. Let us build it.”
- “I let any judgement of myself go,” Sydney continued. “I’m very proud of the meltdown Cassie had this season.”
- The result: Cassie’s iconic, “I’m crazier” line.
The adjustment added another layer to a compelling storyline between the two. It was clear that the two stars shared great chemistry.

Sydney Sweeney Does Have Certain Rules When Filming Revealing Scenes In Euphoria
Sydney Sweeney has taken on several revealing scenes during her time on Euphoria. However, the actress refused to do ‘unnecessary’ nude scenes in Euphoria. If the script called for a revealing scene without much context attached, Sweeney would refuse.
“There are moments where Cassie was supposed to be shirtless and I would tell Sam [Levinson, director], ‘I don’t really think that’s necessary here’ and he was like, ‘OK, we don’t need it.’ ”
“I’ve never felt like Sam has pushed it on me or was trying to get a nude scene into an HBO show. When I didn’t want to do it, he didn’t make me.”
Sweeney went on to admit that this hasn’t been the case throughout her career. She has been afraid to speak up during other circumstances.
“I’ve had experiences where I want to go home and scrub myself completely raw because I feel disgusting. I didn’t feel comfortable with my cast mate or the crew, and I just didn’t feel like my character would be doing it. That made me even more self-conscious. I didn’t feel like I was able to speak up.”
Sydney Sweeney believes Hollywood has different gender values for nudity. “When a guy has a sex scene or shows his body, he still wins awards and gets praise. But the moment a girl does it, it’s completely different.”
