Kourtney Kardashian wanted things a very specific way for the birth of her son Rocky, which was showcased in the latest episode of The Kardashians.
This included her husband Travis Barker taking his travel drum set to the hospital to play ahead of their baby’s arrival, which Kourtney found herself defending against criticism.
Why Kourtney Wanted Travis To Drum In The Hospital

“Travis brought his practice drum kit,” Kourtney said in the episode. “How special to be drumming to his son’s heartbeat? The drumming sound is super relaxing and calming to me. I heard it my whole pregnancy. I would fall asleep to it.”
She’s since shared footage of the birth on TikTok, where many of the comments called her out for the unusual – and disruptive – request to have her husband play drums inside a hospital. Heck, even her family in the episode admitted it was a strange thing to do. But baby Rocky arrived safely despite Kourtney’s complicated pregnancy, so perhaps the couple was on to something.
That wasn’t the only specific thing they do to make the labor comfortable. Kourtney admitted Travis was very specific about their music choices.
“Right when Travis started playing music, I think he felt that he was gonna have these rock vibes. And then right when he went to select the music, he went for some Frank Sinatra,” she explained. “We listened only to Frank Sinatra during the birth.”
Kourtney And Travis Have A Blended Family
Kourtney was previously in an on-and-off relationship with Scott Disick from 2006 to 2015. The exes share three children: Mason (born 2009), Penelope (born 2012), and Reign (born 2014). Despite their long time relationship Kourtney and Scott’s romance was plagued by Disick’s struggles with substance abuse and infidelity, leading to their eventual split in 2015.
Travis, the drummer for Blink-182, was previously married to Melissa Kennedy (2001-2002) and then Shanna Moakler (2004-2008). With Moakler, he has two children: Landon (born 2003) and Alabama (born 2005). Barker and Moakler’s relationship was tumultuous, marked by public feuds and reconciliations, which ultimately ended in divorce, though he remains close to Shanna’s daughter Ariana from a previous relationship.
Kourtney and Travis, who had been friends for years, began dating in late 2020. Their relationship quickly garnered media attention for its passionate displays of affection. They got engaged in October 2021 on a beach in Montecito, California, with Travis proposing in a romantic setting filled with roses and candles.
The couple married in a legally binding ceremony in Santa Barbara, California, in May 2022, followed by a lavish celebration in Portofino, Italy, attended by close family and friends.
They were later open about their struggles with fertility. They documented their IVF journey, sharing the emotional and physical challenges they faced in trying to conceive. In June 2023, they announced they were expecting a child together, with Kourtney revealing her pregnancy at a Blink-182 concert by holding up a sign that read, “Travis, I’m pregnant.”
The couple welcomed their son, Rocky Barker, in late 2023.
