Zayn Malik fans are elated by the singer’s surprise announcement – he’s returning to music with a one-time performance.
This comes after the musician was uncharacteristically open about his personal life, particularly his daughter, recently.
Malik took to social media to reveal his a one-night-only live performance set to take place in London.
This marks a significant milestone for Zayn, as it will be his inaugural solo live performance, breaking an eight-year hiatus from the stage following his departure from One Direction.
Zayn Announced A Single Performance In London
His announcement comes hot on the heels of the revelation of his forthcoming album, Room Under the Stairs, a surprise drop that delighted fans on March 13. Scheduled for release on May 17, the same date as his London show.
Set to take place at the historic 02 Shepherds Bush Empire in London on May 17, this event promises to be a landmark moment for Zayn and his fans. Originally constructed in 1903, the venue (known by various names including Shepherd’s Bush Empire and BBC Television Theatre) boasts a capacity of just 2,000.
Malik will reportedly treat the audience to six songs. Following the musical showcase, fans will get to see the world premiere of his new documentary, Road Back to the Mic, further signaling his comeback to the music scene. Rumor has it that Malik may even use the occasion to announce his first tour since departing 1D.
Zayn has appeared to be working hard on his comeback this year. From his appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast to hosting exclusive listening parties and making guest appearances on talk shows, the singer has been steadily reintegrating himself into the public sphere.
Zayn Gave A Rare Update On His Daughter
He was even uncharacteristically open about his daughter, Khai, who he shares with ex Gigi Hadid. He gave an update on the 4-year-old last month. Speaking to L’Officiel, he said that Khai is starting to understand what it means to be a performer.
“She doesn’t come to the studio, but she’s starting to understand that Baba sings and Baba does music,” he said. She asks everybody, whenever there’s a song on the radio, ‘Is my Baba singing?’ But in front of me, she kind of gets shy about it.”
He also opened up about spending a lot of time in Pennsylvania, where he co-parents with Gigi, keeping their daughter away from the spotlight. They famously don’t post photos of her face to social media.
“You get a lot of time to really think about things. And when I found out that my partner at the time was pregnant, I pretty quickly made up my mind that this would be a great place to raise a child because there’s so much for her to do here,” he explained. “So, we do spend a lot of time outside. We do the gardening. She likes to camp with me. We cook outside. We fish a little bit. And she’s really into it, too, so it makes it fun.”
